There was a thread discussing Turnbull 1886s. Thought I would show you the Browning he did for me. It is now a 50-100-450.

A handsome rifle indeed. Turnbull obviously does fine work. The only thing I see missing is the rubber thingy that goes on the end of the wooden thingy...:kidding:

tell us a bit about that caliber....

Basically, Winchester came out with the 50 Express, aka the 50/110, around 1900 or so. It fired a 300gr. bullet in an 1886 Winchester. It used a slow rate of rifling twist for the short bullet. Later, Winchester came out with a loading using the same case and a bullet of 450grish. This load required a faster twist, so rifles were produced as such and marked accordingly. I wanted to use heavier boolits, so I asked Turnbull to build and mark it as such.

It is built to emulate a 20 inch Short Rifle.
