This mold is for sale on the bay. It's listed as an RCBS power point. I did a little research and I think these are supposed to come with a pair of screw adjustable base plugs to vary length and cast either a flat or hollow base. I emailed the seller and he said it only comes with the one pictured.....and it doesn't look screw adjustable.

I deduced how the base plate works from the shape of the handle pins/screws. Am I wrong about it being adjustable? And what's the purpose of a smooth sided minie ball if not for paper patching?

Dunno where the "power point" came from, maybe the sellers imagination. The PP on the mold block is for paper patch. I have one just like it, it's for 45 cal paper patch boolits, not a minie ball as advertised. The base plug on the paper patch molds is not adjustable.

RCBS has some minie ball type molds that have a screw adjustable base, but they are not smooth sided.

These were cast from my paper patch mold-

Thanks for the good info. I wondered why anyone would want a smooth boolet if not to paper patch it. What's the weight on those?

I don't think anything adjusts, it is just a removeable (flippable?) automatic HB punch
system. As usual for RCBS molds, it looks beautifully made.
