Nice bird. I got a real close look at one at Oshkosh last July. Very nice aircraft, and it is
really amazing the lengths that they went to to seal up all the little gaps between the
ailerons and wing, and flap segments, etc. Lots of nice little soft rubber molded seals to
keep the air flowing only where they want it to go.

This one is all about reduced drag to get improved fuel economy. Huge amounts of
carbon fiber to keep the weight down. If you ever get close to one you'll be amazed at
how big the engines are.

It's the only bird in the Boeing line that I haven't had my hand in. :(

I work in the defense side of Boeing ... did get to make some tooling for it. If you ride in it I made the tools that make the over head bins. And a few other things.

Well it sure brought the plane spotters out of the woodwork. Zoom lenses for Africa.

I worked for Boeing Defense and Space over a decade ago, also was involved with a few commercial contracts for the Triple Seven and some of the wide-body (37/57), mostly electronics and wiring bundles.

Jeff, do you know if that particular bird is involved in ongoing ETOPS certification? That was my first suspicion when I saw it with the factory paint job, and the fact that it had to have covered a lot of water to get to your corner of the globe.
