GOt this bullet out to try last week. It's the Lyman 340grHP w/ a diff pin for a cup point. The bullet tested was range scrap, 348gr @ 1600fps in my Marling GG. I love it, massive trauma to the wetpack w/ good penetration. SHould make a great deer/pig round inside 100yds. I need to play w/ water dropping to see if accuracy will improve & maybe not quite so much expansion.

Does water dropping actually make the expansion less? I ask because I am under the impression/understanding that water dropping is only a (lets say) a surface treatment. I normally cast using only clip on WW. I was wondering if I needed to water drop for hunting purposes for better penetration with solids.

It's 45-70 for my Marlin GG. Yes, water dropping should slow expansion some, so I will be testing that next time out.

PRobably, 98% weight retention in wetpack is encouraging. Oh yes, thru 4 layers of dreaded denim as well.

Textbook example of what expansion should look like. 98% weight retention.

Google Hollow point mold speciliast, his web site comes up, e-mail him. Erik is a great guy to work with, prompt & professional, a true craftmsan as well. Hard to find guys like that today in any business.

There is not a better person servicing the cast bullet crowd than Erik.

I've had Erik do several of my moulds and he does a great job. Got to get back into contact with him for a few more jobs, just been putting it off too long.
