How thick of material has been working the best for 22 cal, been thinking of getting a 223. I have aluminum flashing that around 15 thousands. Works good for my 30 cal. But that little 22 it might need to be thinner. I have a .224 lee sizer and a lyman mold just no gun yet.

Charlie recommends .009" maximum thickness for his 22 cal tool

Final sizing diameter minus gas check shank size divided by two.

EG: .226 - .214 = .012 / 2 = .006

But Yonky is right. Up to 9 thou would be fine 'cos they will swage onto the shank.

I use .008" lith plate in my FC III although Charlie made me a second forming mandrel to handle up to .011" material, the lith plate is perfect so I havent bothered trying anything thicker.

I have run into some ity bity shanks so I have stayed with .011 aluminum. A few even need .013 for very small shanks.

Would doubling up on soda can material work. A single is .004, so if I put two discs into the forming die I'd get a .008 check right?

I use roof flashing (.010") for my .22 checks.
