has any one had any luck with this particular rifle shooting cast? i have been trying the Lee 200 gr. 7 Lyman 311672 . the best i have been able to get with either bullet is about 1&1/2in. @ 100yds. have tried many different powders with & without fillers, added more tin to the WW's, water and air cooled. what ever i did the best consent (repeatable5&10 shot groups) was about1&1/2-2in.@100yds. this rifle is a known shooter 1/2in with(5) 168's @100yds. is common for it.
this rifle does have a chrome line barrel. i was hoping for at solid 1'' or less....jim

What are you sizing to? Keep in mind that 1&1/2" 10 shot groups are pretty good. The group in my avatar was shot with a Winchester Model 70 Stainless Classic Featherweight, using RCBS 30-165 Sil Boolits sized to .3105", aircooled WW, Homemade Felix Wonder Lube, over 17.3 grains of 2400. Using RCBS 30-150 FN boolits sized and lubed the same way, with the same load almost doubles the group size. BTW, my rifles have all been fire-lapped for about 20 rounds each before being used with cast. I don't know how a chrome lined bore affects accuracy or leading with cast boolits, as the only rifle I have with that feature is one of my AR's, and I haven't tried cast in the 5.56 yet.

Did you enjoy shooting your rifle with cast? Thats the important thing.
