Here is my procedure for prepping a mould prior to testing an NOE mould. (and this is pretty much how I prep my moulds for my regular use.)

I totally disassemble it. Take off the sprue plate all the extra little hold pins and if it's an RG all of the RG pins.
This example is an RG2 9mm.

I am down to bare block now. I then spray with brake cleaner and use a soft tooth brush on the cavities.

Next, I spray with more brake cleaner an then use a QTip on each cavity to dry it out.

I take some emery cloth and very very lightly touch the inside of the alignment holes to take off any "edge" on the inside.

I put all the metal screws and such in a jar, spray with brake clean to totally degrease.

I do the same to the sprue plate and any RG pins and RG pin holders.

I take some emery cloth and dehorn any sharp edges on the sprue plate and the sprue holes. So when the sprue is opened and closed it makes no excessive contact on the surface of the mould.

I let them dry. I then take my can of dry film lubricant, moly and coat the entire surface of all of the metal screws, pin holders and hold down pins and the sprue plate, both sides.

NOTE I DO NOT SPRAY ANY RG HP PINS! they are left naked and clean along with the mould block.

I then put the entire mould back together.

I preheat and cast.

98% of the time I will have NO rubbing of the sprue plate on the top of the mould. the other 2% I will have one or two scratches.

I apply some alignment pin lube and sprue plate lube as needed but very rarely is that needed.

When I am done with my few sample boolits cast, you can hardly tell it was even used.

And the first 3 boolits.

no, I choose ONE mould and that's it.

a random sample for quality inspection. If you do NOT want me to test your's let me know and I'll make sure I don't pick that one.
