I would like to shoot something besides .454 RB's in my 1860 Army. I have a couple of molds for .45 but all are pour .452 boolits. I think these are sized too small for the revolver. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good conical or preferably a flat nosed .45 mold that would pour 200-250 gr boolits? 2, 4 or 6 cavity. Can't be too long to put on top of 30 or so gr of BP in the cylinders. Think these might perform better for a hunting round. I've contacted this Kaido guy from youtube about his 454 240 grainer but haven't gotten a reply on an address to order from. Suggestions? Can I use .456 or .457?

I have two conical molds for my 1858 Remington copy, both of which are Lee molds which measure about .452 but are advertised at .450. These molds are tapered based to ease in seating the boolit. Lee also makes a conical for the Ruger Old Army advertised at .456 in diameter and 220 grains. I'm sure it will likely cast heavier. When you seat the tapered boolit it will size to fit the chamber.

I have used a full cylinder of pyrodex or 25 grains and corn meal filler to seat flush with the cylinder. The corn meal prevents chain fires and helps keep the bore clean. Good luck! Frank
