We have a new caster (Woody3) that lives in the Ridgecrest area and could use some help learning the ropes. It's about a four hour drive for me, so not really doable. We worked a trade on another forum and that got him interested in casting his own. I've spoken with him on the phone and he is a good guy. He will fit right in here.

Hey Jim,
9.3X62AL lives in the Ridgecrest area. I'm sure you can reach him here or in the california casters group.
I am pretty sure there are others too.

I dunno how I missed this earlier, but here I am. Lemme know how I can help.

He shows no posts to date, but was on the board yesterday. I'll try a PM.

Al,
I also PM'd him on the other forum as well (thehighroad.org). Hope he is able to touch base with you.

Al,
I was half afraid to suggest or "volunteer" you but in my heart I figgered you would be the man to turn to.

Well, thanks for the "votes of confidence", y'all. I'm no "authority", but I might be able to assist a little.

Let's see. 8180 posts and you are "no authority"? You have experience and knowledge that most of us will have to work years for.

Thanks guys,

We have worked it out via pm. I appreciate everyone's help finding someone to help me get started. Anyone have a recommendation on a good casting manual to read up on before we get to meet? I know Absolutly nothing about casting. Well, almost nothing. Lol

Thanks again,
Woody

The best manual to read that I can think of is the one you are on. Read the stickies and areas on casting they explain a lot.

LASC "From ingots to bullets" and any of the Lyman Casting handbooks (mine is issue 3).

Glenn and Rick are true experts. And I kinda expected a "Shucks, Ma'am, just doin' my job" from Al, just as it turned out.

I think you and others will find many of us "old farts" more than willing to mentor novices.

Thank you Bob and Jim.
