MiHec 30 Sil Brass three cavity Hollow Point

This GB is closed

The molds from these Group Buys are the same, except this one is a hollow point version. The solid version and the hollow point version will be cut at the same time.

Specs: 3 cavity brass hollow point. Blocks are bigger than the standard two cavity and the cavites are close coupled. The hollow point is small due to the small meplat, but is quite deep enough to initiate expansion with a proper alloy. This will be available in future GBs on the Sil series if the meplat is suitable.

Price for 3 cav HP should be $100 plus $15 shipping.
HP pins and blanks are included in price along with the standard goodies, too.

Neither........... buy a lot of WC867, good in the 5.56 also.

WC867 is excellent in the 308 with a booster charge until the temperature gets to shirt sleeve weather. At thirty degrees its sub MOA at long range.... at 65 degrees its a little over MOA.... at 90 degrees its more like 5 MOA..... all for the same load. Most of my longer range shooting occurs with the leaves off the trees though. This powder is very temperature sensitive in this cartridge ..................

Should make a good 30-30 bullet with that flat nose. I can use it in 30-06, 300 win, and 30-30. Look at all the money I'm saving using one mold for 3 rifles. I'm sure the wife will appreciate my frugality. ;-)

Thank you for the responces. The reason for the question on the nose diameter was not about the rifle throat but about the bullet feeding up the M-4 feed ramps of the AR type rifles. Here's a pic of what they look like.

This boolit feeds fine in AR 10, Cetme, H&K 91, M1A, Valmet 82 and some unusual things. We haven't tried the FALs because they're not as accurate generally as the others mentioned. Why it wouldn't feed in yours would be a mystery.

With the hollow point, it depends on the choices you make. Cast of a good malleable alloy it should perform reasonably well.

Well... it was planned that way, BUT MiHec has had two cherries break doing the solid molds and he is currently trying to get another maker to do the rifle cherries (breaking in people to do and make what you want has some down time involved in it).... so it is going to be a little while yet. The HP molds are closer coupled and a little harder to do. Sorry for the delay.

Things like that happen when the forum gets updated and kills access from your computer. It takes some time to find what will work and get it paid for.................. This boolit will stay in the case neck covering the lube groove and fit in the magazine. Anything more than that is unknown to me.

MY NEW MOLD IS HERE, NEW MOLD IS HERE!!!
Now to get it ready to cast and make a few boolits.
Well heated it for a bit, 4 good heat cycles, started casting
with WW 1st few runs wasted on trying this and that and found the
grove that was working well. Then the mold got to hot and was breaking the
boolit off at the lube grove. Tried to turn down the heat on the lead but ran out of time.
Great mold, gona like trying a few loads.
O yea, wieght is 171 grans +- .3
.311 at the band on the seam and .314 at 90* to the seam.

WARNING !! .. do not get your mold to hot ! .. this one holds it heat very nicely as others have commented .
But I did a big dummy move here and it shows in my pics if you look close ...(I didn't notice until last night)
The HP pins will bend if there is to much heat/stress put on them ! as they are so small ....
As stated earlier by RED333 , he broke a boolit in half as I did also / boolit sticking while sliding the hp pin out there by stressing the pin sticking until it breaks loose ...

I was able to straighten mine back up doing the reverse in the heating process but very carefully ...

A big oops here on my part .....:oops::oops: ... feel like the proverbial big dummy ...:dung_hits_fan:

Digger you got me thinking, I just checked mine, no bent pins.
When I was casting I did find that I have to slow down to allow the lead to cool.
I tap(a few small taps) the handle bolt and open the mold at the same time to keep from breaking the boolits.

Set up a few with 30 gr of IMR 4895 to see what direction to go with in my Garand Tanker ..
Oh yeah !! .... no target set up , just wanted to see how things would work .
At fifty yards was aiming at a milk jug laying on the ground and bounced it twice , the berm was directly behind , with eight in the clip to try out, was darn close with the others.
Full function with clip ejection when empty.
Brass looked good , no flattened primers , no dark blow back around the neck from not enough charge .
Think this little puppy is going to be a lot of fun ....:drinks:

Anyone know what the BC of this boolit is? After nose sizing this boolit, it works perfectly in my 300 BLK. Just want to know the BC so I can run some ballistic programs for it.
