schraubermani,
It is good to see that in Germany you have bullet casters. How popular is casting there and can you buy casting tool and supplies locally?

In your first photo, what is red and yellow material in the buckets, bullet lube maybe? also in that photo what kind of beer is that?

Oh man! You just had to park the lube next to a case of Warsteiner didn't you? After 3 1/2 years in Bavaria I still miss Rauchbeir and Patrizier.

Nice photos.

Hello,

yes, this is selfmade-bullet lube in the buckets.
a few days ago i got my Magma star sizer from a good friend from america.
Now i am experimenting with lube.
Sports shooting, hunting and casting aren't very popular sports.
A few reload and even less cast.
Yes, we can buy reloading stuff and tools for casting here, but it all comes from america.
And do not ask how much nitro-powders cost here...you'd laugh.

We have about 2 Mill. registrated weapon owners in Germany.
The problem is, that we do not have a lobby like the NRA.
In the last years, after some left-sided parties tried to ban legal ownership of firearms in Germany, the owners of firearms began to unify.
That helped a little bit, but that does not mean, we are all talking with one voice.
Typically german.
In Germany you need to have a necessity to own firearms. This means, that you have to become a member of a sport-shooters club for at least one year, before you can apply for a permit to buy pistols/rifles/ammounition.
Or you have to do a hunting-course and a very hard exam.
And if you get in conflict with the law, they will repeal your permit. This means, you have to sell/destroy your guns.
And as you see at the pictures we must store our guns in safes at home.
There are politicians who want to ban home storing of weapons.
Why don't you keep your firearms in the shooters clubs? Oh my god!
And the worst thing that can happen to you in germany is catching a housebreaker.
So never try to defend yourself by using one of your weapons in this case.
The end of the story could be that you'd be taken to the court, charged with threatening the burglar with a weapon.
This is reality in germany!
Germany has a very famous weapons industry and sells weapons to all over the world, even to China, Jordania, Korea, Saudi-arabia............but they do not allow their citizens to protect their lives and health by using firearms.
You can mensurate a states democracy by its law on arms......congratulations to you.

best regards,

Manuel

I guess you need to play softball too. Then you can bash the burgler with the bat and just lose your softball priviliges.

Everything I think of Germany I can still taste those wonderful Schnitzel sandwiches we use to get. I'd give my weigh in gold to have one just like the ones we use to get in Hanau. Definitely not enough German restaurants around here.

Good morning schraubermani
Some of my best tank days were with our counter-part Leopard crews out in the forests. Dood to read you still have a little freedom left to enjoy the shooting sports. ILLinois is not far behind you.. sadly !

Hello,

Schleswig is sadly quite far away from Nuremberg.
Yes, we are trying to keep our little freedom in germany to keep enjoying sports shooting.
Illinois istn't far behind us in weapons law....really?
I am very surprised, i know, that weapon laws differ from state to state in the USA, but couldn't imagine, that there are states with quite worse laws as in Germany.

I had the pleasure of crossing Germany and Austria about a month ago. I was amazed by the number of deer stands that I saw. Hunting in Germany/Austria may not be considered a popular sport but there are some people who are enjoying it very much.

It looks like you are doing very well. I have always enjoyed visiting Germany.

Sorry about your gun laws, I hope you can start organizing and reverse the trends.

Born in Berlin been back twice once for 4 year, and another time for a summer.

Sure could do with a brochen and brot and a few glasses of beer.

Ich habe 9 Monate in Salzburg gewohnt, und habe auch ziemlich viel Zeit in Sueddeutschland verbracht. Ein schoenes Land. Das einzige Problem, als ich dort war, war dass ich nicht schiessen konnte. (Schade!).

Ich habe eine Frage. Wie sagt man "Bullet lube" auf Deutsch? Kugelgleitmittel? Kugelschmierstoff? Oder?

Bullet Lube = "Geschossfett" in german.

Hello and welcom to the forum. Thanks for the pics, I like the set up you have.
Gun laws in your country sound as crazy as the laws here. A lot of points in common.
Cannot defend our property,
Guns must be kept in approved safes,
Must provide reason for ownership, eg club use/ permision from land owners,
Not to mention the cost of licence/ application!

Sounds like we need to keep supporting the NRA. maybe the NRA should go Global? After all it is a Global economy now.

Manuel,

When I saw the title of your thread, I hoped to see something about one of my longtime shooting interests, good old fashioned Schuetzen! When we explain our strange style of shooting to someone here, it is simplest to just call it "the old German style" of offhand shooting as practiced by German (and other schuetzenvereinen) since the days of the long bow, but reaching its zenith when cartridge rifles first came out. German, Swiss, Danish and other national groups in the US brought their "game" with them and it continued to flourish until WW I, and has enjoyed a growing resurgence here for about the last 40-50 years. I'd love to discuss what (if anything) is still going on around you there in this type of shooting... I know there is some going on in parts of Germany to this day. If interested please send me a PM or e-mail to <gfrog53 AT yahoo DOT com> making the obvious substitutions.

Regards,
Green Frog

Welcome aboard and from all the boolits and lube shown, you are a busy bee boolit caster.

I was stationed at Permasens (Rheinland) 1956-58 and I still miss that Parkbrau beer to this day. I really liked Germany and it's people, visited France, Italy and other countries while in Europe, but once back in Germany, was like being home again.

Welcome. Besides great beer Germany has always impressed me with how clean it is kept. In my military travels Germany and Norway have been nice.

I spent a month studying in Germany as part of my seminary education (prediger seminar equivalent). We spent half of that in Wittenberg with the ELCA mission site in cooperation with the EKD. When my host family found out how much I love to hunt and fish they connected me with a different host family and I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon at a private range shooting bolt guns, drillings, and muzzleloaders at a wide variety of targets, including a running target range. I'm proud to say I held my own! It was a great time. I'm about 95% German and proud of it and learned much of the ethnic cooking at home. It was fun to go have some of that in restaurants plus have the amazing beer. Zwei bier bitte! Lecker! :) I would give my left pinkie for a pair of thuringer wurstchen...
