Hi guys, this is a project that I have been thinking about and trying to work towards for the better part of two years. It started out as a cool idea and the more and more I got immersed into it, the more I felt that this idea could really turn in to an amazing product. The idea is called FPS Cam. It's a camera mount for firearms that will attach to side rails and accommodate almost any type of camera you may have. From a tiny point and click camera to a 6-7lb pro-sumer camcorder, this mount can hold just about all of them and is solid as a rock. The way I designed it, you're more likely to break your camera or your gun than you are to break this mount. It can be used to face down the barrel or towards the shooter. It can be used in conjunction with a camera capable of night vision, an infra red flashlight and a laser to pick out targets in low or no light. It can be used with a laser to point around corners and shoot from cover/concealment. I think this product will have many uses for not just the average joe who likes to shoot, but paintballers, airsofters, hunters, police and military. Check out the promo video my partner and I put together and please visit our Indiegogo page if you're interested in contributing to the project. Thanks for your time and I hope this can turn into something real. I'll try to man the thread as often as possible and answer any questions you may have.

Why don't you guys just get her done and build it if there's such a demand?

Things are rough all over.

I started with an idea like you 3 years ago, but I scraped up $1200 and bought a lathe, then learned how to use it to mfg my products. Git her done...! No one's gonna put up any cash. You got to do it on your own.

No investors will risk the potential suits which will likely occur after a whole bunch of expensive cameras get screwed up from the recoil.
Scopes which are designed to handle recoil sometimes fail. Cameras don't have a chance without an extensive and very effective recoil dampening system. A metal angle bracket does not provide that. Sorry.

The Army has had this technology since Desert Storm, if I recall right from a History Channel show years ago. Viewscreen clips to helmet, and suspends in front of dominant eye, camera goes on the M4 rail. The system had some sort of targeting software and wireless transmitter so that leadership could follow along remotely, and I think had low-light capability. Designed for clearing buildings more safely.

Wonder how long a home consumer model cam would hold up to recoil like with that riflecam mount?

300 win mag ...?

It's to late now but, you should have done everything you've done with this idea up to now in secret. I mean, your research and development; any marketing that's involved and then posted your idea after all was completed. This way all the Nay-Sayers can say all they want and it still won't effect the outcome of you project.

I used to post my ideas and projects here and in other forums as I was developing those ideas but, no more. There's just far to many dream-killers and know-it-all's in any given forum just chomping at the bit to tell you all the reasons why your ideas will fail.

If you do give into your excitement about making your ideas known to the public, be prepared to get bombarded by all manner of "Arm-Chair" advice and clichés like, "You're Reinventing the wheel" and "You can't change the Laws of physics" and "It's already been done," etc..

I say, Keep Going. Don't give up. Don't just dream your dreams. Doing everything you know how to bring them to fruition.

Artful: I had no idea there was that many mounts on the market.

savage 1r: make a few for yourself and be done with it. Too much established competition already in the market place.

You got there way too late!

Had to kill the music to watch it.

Will be interesting to see how shockproof video cameras are. I would assume GoPro would survive best/longest.

NEVER let naysayers or people like me stop you dram, go forth and make it work . . .

If for no other reason than to "spite us"
