I see mention of Litho plate material. Never heard of it and what would be the logical supply source for that? I understand aluminum flashing from hard ware stores but Litho plate has me a bit lost in source and costs.

It's used by printers, so local newspaper would be a source for used material.

Thanks Paul,

I take it , this is a printing material and used stuff is what I should ask for or do I ask to buy
a new roll of the stuff? I apologize for being so daft here but .. I am !

What is the proper thickness of copper flashing for making 30 caliber gas checks?
Also what is the proper thickness of aluminum? We have a bunch of excess heat sink fins that look like they might work great.

It depends on the shank of your bullet. Many swear by it. It varies in thickness on the same roll, take a micrometer with you. The latest tools seem to be spec'd for .015 material in 30 cal. Shank shank shank.....

This posted earlier may help you Milsurp Junkie Good advice, Its all about the math. For my bullets I have found nothing thinner than .012 works well and .014 is just about right . Thats sizing to .311 if your going bigger say .314 and up youll need a thicker material

The .012 and .015 plate is best for the .30 cal. I have'nt found any used yet. To expensive to buy new.

Milprileb;
Have not used any yet. I use .014 al for 30 cal. I am going to use it for 35PB checks i think that it will slide through the die better than soda cans, might try it on some fat 30 for the 303. (used)
