Somewhere I got the impression the 7mm-08 has a short throat but I just looked at a SAAMI reamer drawing of the 7-08 and that just ain't the case... at least not compared to the .308W.

So, I was wondering who has a 7-08 and what boolits do well in it. I'm especially curious about the Lee boolit mentioned in my title. Post your one groups if ya got 'em (especially those with 5+ rounds in them).

Thanks,
MJ

Hey Marlin,
I have a Marlin xs7 in 7mm-08. I use the lee mold and it shoots very good. I can get it about
1" at 100 yds. I use 14.5 gr. unique or IMR-4198 at 23.0gr. it puts this bullet about 1935fps. I also use the RCBS 168 gr. bullet and it also is a very good shooter. I use 15.0 gr of unique or 25.0 gr of IMR-4198. I dont have any pic's though.

I sold mine because it did not shoot as good as the rcbs 145-sil

I have used that boolit in the past and it shoots well. What does very well out of my 7-08 is the Lyman 287641 pushed by either IMR4198 or IMR4064. I can consistently shoot 2" or less at 200 meters (5 shot groups).[smilie=w:

Thank you for the input.

Would you guys mind updating your post with COL's (cartridge overall lengths)?

Thanks again,
MJ

2.730" with the 287641. This boolit is a bore rider and it is seated well into the lands. I use this boolit for HiPower Silhouette on a reduced course out to 320 meters. The reduced size rams weigh about 25 lbs and the IMR4064 load takes them down easily.:bigsmyl2:
