Ok, I take back what I said about new .358 Win brass being available for $19.95 per 50. All suppliers seem to be out and I'm guessing that Winchester isn't making any more. Still, don't people know that .308 brass easily becomes .358 with a run up a through .358 Win sizer die? I can't believe that someone paid $90.51 for 50!!!!!

358 win is considered "seasonal" brass, which means it is made in batches maybe once a year. some seasonal is made only every couple of years. 358 brass "should" be available this summer.
( and yes i had considered using 308 to make mine, but picked up 250 new win 358 win ...for.......$32!, a new 358315 mould for $20 !) sometime a blind squirel does find a nut!.

There is one instance in which it is preferable to neck up .308 brass...

Look for (used) Lake City Match brass. You sometimes see it gun shows; the M15/M1A guys love it, and for good reason. It's a lot thicker in the neck, and even after it's sized up to .358, the brass is still .004 thicker in the neck. Yes, case capacity is reduced by a grain or two, but you're effectively taking .008" of "slop" out of your chamber neck and that has a definite, positive effect on accuracy...
