View Full Version : My Latest Revolver Acquisition

For all you revolver fans I thought I'd post a few pics of my new(old) S&W model 66-4...what a honey! Cylinder locks up tight, trigger pull right at 4 1/2 pounds and looks about as close to being new without being NIB. I got the original box, owners manual and other papers today.

I've already checked the throats and they check out at .3575" so, a .358 boolit should be just the ticket. I'll be busy thins weekend casting some for this baby and have two more molds coming-one 358477 and a H&G #51(651) from Ballisti-Cast. Going to be Christmas around here soon.

Nice find Colonel, my cousin had one just about like it way back when, that brings back some memories. For an illuminating experience, try some 125 gr JHP's in that baby, that short tube will really roar with some of these!

That's a beauty! My 2.5 inch 66-3 loves the Lee 140gr SWC.

I've been told at the S&W forum, but of course you get a variety of opinions, not to shoot many full house 357 rounds with the K-frame due to some of them having a thin forcing cone. After looking at this one that may be a concern. Of course, I won't shoot many like that, I've got a Ruger GP100 for fire and brimstone loads.

Nah-I can be all things to all manufacturers.:-D I don't cull anybody...well, maybe an RG or Astro.

That's probably pretty good advice. Full-house 125's are kinda unpleasant in this beast anyway, but firing a few is worth it just to see that amazing fireball and shockwave! Make sure you double your hearing protection, and I'd save these for outdoors too...
