This buy contains the original GB light, the AA lights, and the promised Hunter package.

ORIGINAL GB LIGHT

This buy is for an Xm-L LED flashlight, a pair of batteries to power it, and a charger.

Discussion from Round 1 can be found here :
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=117977
and here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=122123
and here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=122952

Basic Details:

The body of the light is an ultrafire C1 made of anodized aluminum with a removable clip and lanyard. The switch is in the tailcap and is of the standard click design.
Dimensions are: 5 1/3 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide at the head. slight under 1 inch at the tail.

The driver is set up for 2.8 Amps which is a good trade off between light and heat production and yields roughly 850 lumens at the emitter. (This will vary slightly from one to the next but should not vary by more than 3%).

The driver is set for 3 modes: Low (10%), Medium (45%) and High (100%) drive and battery life will vary with use depending on mode. On high, the batteries will last between 40 minutes and 1 hour, on Medium, about 2.4-3 hours, and on low somewhere in excess of 10 hours. To change modes, depress the switch half way while the light is on. The driver does have mode memory so it will start in whatever mode it was last set to. These lights will get hot if driven on high for the full discharge of the battery and it is recommended that you use medium or low for the bulk of your work and high only when needed to keep heat down. Mine after 20 minutes was 136F on the head of the lamp and 114 on the body.

Batteries for these lights are 18650 lithium cells that operate at a nominal 3.7 Volts. (Charge to 4.2V). They get their name from their form factor 18mm diameter by 650mm long. They contain a protection circuit that prevents overcharge or over-discharge to protect the cells from damage. Cutoffs are 4.2V and 2.8v respectively. The light only uses a single battery so by providing 2 you have one in the light and one charging at any given time.

Costs $43 per light kit.

Options:

Shotgun mount Kit = fits tube on pump guns $14
Rail mount Kit = fits picattiny rails $14
Scope Mount Kit = fits 1 inch or 30mm scopes (buyer must specify) $18
(All mount kits included corded pressure switch)

Corded Pressure switch $5

Aspheric Lens for longer range (less spill / more throw) $2

Additional Batteries $3.50 each

Round tube with Crenulated bezel and momentary switch (this is a twist in / push in to turn on, unscrew or release to turn off) NO CLICK at all. See attached Photos for picture. Add $10 to base light kit price for tube/switch upgrade.

Nylon Holster $2

Twist on silent momentary switch $8

I am offering 2 AA Light options.

The first is a rerun of the last one that turned out to be a hit. Q5 zoomie at $15 each.

The 2nd is the Xeno E03 that was discussed as the option 3 light previously - XML t6 3 mode no memory extremely well made light $37

I can fit 6 of either AA light in a small flat rate box for shipping.

The final option is the hunter light:

Red, Green, and white emitters designed for long distance hunting.
with Charger, 2 batteries $105

With complete kit:
Light body
3 pills - white, red, and green
2 batteries
2 cell charger

barrel mount
pressure switch

$130

Hunter packages will fit in a small flat rate box for single orders but will require medium boxes for 2+

wiljen,

The pressure switch that comes with the hunter light, is that the standard push on and then push again for off? (Basically a rubber style button at the tailcap push on and then push off or is it push it in and when you let it go the light goes off?)

Thanks.

Wil, what is the lumen output on the Hunter? Thanks, CR

Depends on the emitter in use. They are all XR series emitters so ballpark 200-250.

Remember the hunter is designed for throw with a deep reflector and lumen numbers dont tell the whole story. It wont light up the room like the regular GB light, but it will get out to that far fence.

The hunter has a rear click switch (click to turn on/click to turn off) and a wired pressure switch that is a momentary on.

Will, I am interested in the Option #3 AA light but have a couple of questions.

What do you mean by a reverse tail clip switch?
Does it have a momentary on/off, or is it click on/click off?
Can you focus the beam spot to flood or is it fixed? If fixed, what is it fixed at?

I really like the looks of this light, smooth, no clip, no crenalation would be easy on the pocket.

I'm surprised more people are not interested in this version, it looks elegant.

Thanks, Gabe

Will, I am interested in the Option #3 AA light but have a couple of questions.

What do you mean by a reverse tail clip switch? Reverse click means you have to fully click it to turn on then depress the switch 1/2 way to change modes.

Does it have a momentary on/off, or is it click on/click off? It is click on/click off.
A forward click switch is the variety that does momentary.

Can you focus the beam spot to flood or is it fixed? If fixed, what is it fixed at? it is a fixed fairly floody beam. It puts out a ton of light and will light a room or a reasonable sized yard on high. It is not what you want for 300 yards away.

You send money either via MO or paypal to the address in the first post along with your wants. As soon as I get them done, I mail everyone's orders out and post in thread. Usually it takes 4-6 weeks after the close of the buy to have parts in hand and begin shipping.

Wiljen,

How does the GB light work when changing modes, using the upgrade body option? Do you turn it on with the twist, then press the momentary switch? Just trying to understand the operation, and whether ease of use influences the decision on body / switch type.

BeeMan

wiljen
06-11-2012, 08:32 PM
Beeman - the quickest way to change modes is repeatedly touch the switch in momentary mode to select the mode you want then tighten the cap to keep the light on without holding the switch. The light will not change modes by touching the switch once it is screwed down as the modes are changed by breaking the circuit.

Do 18650 batteries have a memory like some older technology batteries do?

If charging is interupted, and re commenced the following day will that affect the battery in an adverse way or can such practice lead to over charging the battery?

No Lithium Ion batteries do not have a charge memory. That is one of their better features.

Wiljen -

Received my hunter kit today, and it looks great! However, being a member of the unwashed, I have several questions.
1) I noticed that one pill has a spring on the back of it, while the others don't. Why?
2) I notice grease on the white pill and nothing on the others. Is this dielectric grease, and is it helpful to have it on the backside (facing the battery)?
3) I got what appears to be a scope mount in my package, but not a rail mount. The mount that I got looks like 2 Cs back to back with a big bolt in the middle to tighten it together.

Thanks!

I will take six lights as follows

1: Original light with pressure switch 43+5=47
2: Original light with upgrade body 43+10=53
3,4: 2 Q5 zoomies 15+15=30
5: Xeno E03 37
6: Hunter light with complete kit 130
shipping 15
Total $312

Thanks,
Shawn

I have received all but the Xeno E03 light. I ordered six lights but only got five lights delivered.

I got lazy and they work the same without them so I omitted them.

2) I notice grease on the white pill and nothing on the others. Is this dielectric grease, and is it helpful to have it on the backside (facing the battery)?

Just a difference in how they are mounted, all have a thermal paste between sink and emitter.

3) I got what appears to be a scope mount in my package, but not a rail mount. The mount that I got looks like 2 Cs back to back with a big bolt in the middle to tighten it together.

That would be my fault, the hunter was designed with a scope mount while the original has a rail option. I will work with you to find a rail style mount for it if you need that instead.

Hope that helps.

"That would be my fault, the hunter was designed with a scope mount while the original has a rail option. I will work with you to find a rail style mount for it if you need that instead." ...

I just went back to the original post, and read it again. I see where my confusion was on what came with the hunter kit, as a second mount is mentioned (it's actually the same mount I think), and I was thinking that the second mount was referring to a rail mount.

So do you have a suggestion for what I should get?

Thanks!

This is my question too. The charger does not seem to be marked (at least not in English)

I would quess the slider is the negative???

You would guess correctly - positive to the plastic end, negative on the slider.

If you take a close look up by the plastic end just above the inlaid logo there is a + sign there.

smlekid, just drop into a travel shop and get a USA adapter (or get one off ebay) They are only a few dollars.

I got mine, I'll be counting the many paddymelons (little kangaroos) in my paddocks tonight.

Very bright - great value!

Thanks

tested this thing out hunting last night. I had one of the older model single battery units along too. the older one does throw a much wider beam. It is better for looking for blood but this thing puts a beam out farther then my spotlight. I was putting a beam on the trees almost 500 yards away last night with it. Simply amazing out of a light that size!

what cables? Those were only applicable to the 240 volt chargers sent to Austrailia.
The standard 110 charger has a wall plug directly attached.

Ok, I got pic rail mounts modified and re-anodized to fit the hunter today for those of you that were after those. I also got some infrared test sets built for testing with another member here. All will go out Monday via the post and that should conclude all but the IR testing on this buy.
