20 or so years ago I remember there was load data published in the IHMSA paper , load data for the 32 H&R using heavy 30 cal bullets in a TC
I searched my data storage files ( 9 - 3 ring notebooks ) with no luck
Either I didn't save it , or I lost it somehow

It was devolped for using the 32 H&R mag for scoped standing , if my memory is right
I beleve most of the data used AA1680 and up to 168 gr jacketed bullets

I just picked up a Interarms Mini Mauser in 32 H&R mag , converted to single shot

I slugged it , .3085
So I figured I would try some cast 30 cal bullets out of it

So if you have the data
Could you scan it for me please

I remember the article, but I quit saving my IHMSA News. They seemed to be multiplying in the dark. I have done some similar work with the .32-20 using 311041, 311291, and RCBS 165-SIL. 311041 seemed to beat the others by a little in my gun. I used 1680 for a while with jacketed, but had better luck with cast using 4227 at around the 10 grain level. Much more comfortable when using the taco hold.

John...I saw that data in one of the old Fouling Shots. Steve Hurst I beleive published it. There was data for the .30 Carbine, .32-20 (.30-20) and .32 Mag.

All with bullets in the 180 to 200+ range. If I can dig it out (I'm packing for a move right now), I'll scan it in and we can exchange e-mails and send the scans.

I tried some of the data way back when with 150 grain bullets in a .30 Carbine Contender and they worked pretty well./beagle

I was shooting a .32 magnum with "standard" bullets for Field Pistol but was not getting the accuracy I needed at 75 and 100 yards. I had n opportunity to buy a TC .30 Carbine barrel. I used RL-7 to work up a load with an RCBS Cast 180 gr bullet. That completely answered my need and it certainly worked well. It took the Rams down, NOW, with authority. It also shot well. It also shot very flat. I didn't have to change sight settings. I DID have to hold on the Ram's back, but that worked quite well.

Sorry I can't halp you with heavy bullets in the .32 magnum.

Scrounger , thanks
The 168 gr load will give me a place to start , it is listed as a feild pistol load
So I bet I can up the load some .

What I have is a 18" bolt action single shot rifle in 32H&R mag with a .3085 bore
But the reamed the chamber to axcept .312 bullets
Built on a Interarms Mini Mauser action

I have shot some 120 gr and 130 gr bullets sized .310 and .311

1"or less groups at 75 yards is easy , IF I do my part

But I wanted to try some heavyer bullets out to 2 - 300 yards

Going to ruin the day for some ground hogs

What a mind....just like a steel trap...old and rusty.

Found the article I mentioned. It was in The Cast Bullet, May-Jun 1993. 4th one I looked through out of a milk crate full.

By Ed Bulick instead of Steve Hurst. Sorry, I can't remember everything.

It has 208 grain data for the .32 Mag.

Check your PMs and give me an e-mail. I've scanned the two pages in and will send them to you.

Maybe I ain't so old after all. Fat and ugly...yes, but I can still recall./beagle

I played around with a .30 carbine in T/C (.308) 10" twist, and a Lyman 311299. In big bore it was reliable on chicken, pigs and turkeys. Never did get sight settins for rams figgered out. Can't find my notes, but I believe I used Rx7 So,back to the .357 Max.

Here's an article on the 32 H&R mag on developing loads for the Dan Wesson revolver using several powders.

Hope this helps.
