Is there anyone in the mold making business that can recontour the nose of an existing mold ?

Sell yours and buy the one you want.

I suppose that any competent machinist could do so, but I am not sure that the cost wouldn't exceed that of purchasing another mold. I have had some success flattening round or pointed boolits for use in a lever action rifle by using a flat nosed top punch while sizing.

That would be tough to do unless its 1 cav. I have asked about getting a mold recut by the guy who made it and the response both time was yes.

I'll probably have to make a cherry and do it myself in a lathe. Be a good winter project next year. It is a single cavity mould.

What are you looking to do? You can alter the nose with a flat top punch in your sizer, such as making a RN sort of a FN boolit.

If you can make a cherry why not make the whole mold?

Thinking of making a spitzer into a roundnose.

If you can make a cherry why not make the whole mold?

Going to try that too sometime, but will be a lot less cutting on an existing mould.

I've thought the same about some old molds. Add a nose to a 38 wadcutter Clean out the bands to a dia, and you have a rifle mold.

Then I get a mold from Al at noe and I remember how under tooled I am.

I've done it several times using a form tool, but I was converting swc's to ogival wadcutters. To make a round nose you could get a round nose carbide burr that is under lube groove dia, center the mold in the lathe, and bore the nose out to make it a round nose. Then make a form tool to blend the rn to bore dia.
