Guys,

Over the years I've shot a boat load of cast bullets in handguns.

Have shot just a few in rifles ... .308, and .470 NE. The results with the .308 have always been so-so. The results with a 500 gr FPGC WW bullet lubed with 50/50 Alox Bee's wax has been quite good.

Recently had a .459 430 grain FPGC mold made by Ballisti-Cast (I really like H&G molds). It did not perform will with XMR 5477 in a Lott. Worked fine at near full velocity driven by Varget. Will be looking to use it in 45-70, and .458 AR.

Have been using 50/50 ALox/Bee's Wax and it is obviously just at it's limits at 2100-2200 fps with WW.

Has anyone used the "While Label" lubes for higher velocity stuff ( http://www.lsstuff.com/lube/index.html )? Particularly interested in the Carnauba Red version for high velocity stuff.

Thanks!

mike

Yes, it is a great lube! Varget is a great powder too.

I find LBT soft blue and Lar's high speed red do equally well, so, as the LBT is $4 and the Lar's is $1.25, it is not hard to make a choice!

..............I'm using Lar's (White label) Carnauba Red and really like it. It is a heat lube but doesn't require a LOT of heat. It's a very clean lube to use. It does what it's supposed to do, he's a good guy and a member here, plus the price is right. All are excellent reasons to buy some! :-)

BTW, welcome to the board!

I really like Lar's lubes too. Soon as I can get a bit more cash together I want to get another Lyman 450 so I can make some Speed Green also. A guy could go broke just trying different lubes but thats half the fun of this game. So far Lar's and alox/beeswax would be my choices.

Cheers,

Phil
