Got a 2 cavity with the 2.35" blocks and the trough type sprue plate.

I "designed" this boolit. It's supposed to be my idea of an improvement on the 335gr WLNGC Cast Performance boolits that shot the best out of my Bisley.

Differences from the Cast Performance boolit: More front driving band, shorter nose, 75% meplat, no gas check, more lube grooves.

I think the .370" nose will still fit in an FA .454? But I chose the .370" nose to get 3 good lube grooves on the back half without making it weigh more than 340gr. edit: looks like his drawing shows a .360" nose, which will be fine too and definitely fit in an FA. Basically the crimp groove is moved forward about .020" vs the CP boolit.

Almost got a 4 cavity, but decided that it wasn't worth $36 more and remembered how much time I can waste sometimes getting a 4 cavity to make 4 good boolits per throw vs throwing 2 out of a 2 cavity almost immediately.

And 2 cavities are going to be 2 less variables than 4.

I'll b interested to here how this one shoots I have the 340f and its not the best 340gr Ive shot so far believe it or not the lee 340 fnfp has been the most accurate. I also have a 3 cavity brass and getting 3 good bullets from Tom's molds are a piece of cake I really love his molds

You won't be sorry with Tom's molds. I own several and they are a dream to cast with.

It came in today. VERY NICE! I think this one's gonna be a shooter! Very similar to a few boolits that shoot great in .45 colt.

Looks good, I can't wait for you to shoot it.

I have the same dang problem! I have one Accurate mold (48-420S) I got from another member and it will throw a nice boolit. I'm wanting a new mold (made by Accurate) for my .480 Ruger.

Hey Lefty don't feel bad about wanting another mold from Tom I only have three But I want almost every mold he makes in the .45 just so I don't have to decide. I change my mind almost daily and this mold from subsonic is really got me wanting one bad. I really like the 340 out of the .45 it seems to work quite well and penetrates like crazy.
I blame White eagle for getting me hooked on Tom's molds:kidding:

This should help push you guys to getting one. :bigsmyl2:

First pic is this beautiful mold! By far the prettiest mold I own (cause you know that makes them cast better!).

Second pic is a 335gr Cast Performance WLNGC laying in the near cavity of this mold. tek4260's LBT 325gr Keith is laying in the far cavity. Both are approximately the same length and the crimp groove is really close.

And this last pic is, left to right, Lyman (SSK) 454629 300gr, LBT 300gr WFNGC, Cast Perf 335gr WLNGC, RCBS 300gr SWCGC, and tek4260's LBT 325gr Keith boolit.

My first Accurate mold came from White Eagle. He's partly to blame for some of this mess!

I think White Eagle is Toms best customer:p I to have one of Tom's mold that I bought from white eagle and he has sold a bunch more that I wanted but was too late for. Either way buy from Tom or white eagle they are both great guys and great to do business with.

UPDATE:

Finally got to cast some of these.

Pic:

Left to right: 300gr SSK, 300gr LBT WFNGC, 45-340D, 335gr CP WLNGC, 325gr LBT Keith (tek4260), and 300gr RCBS SWCGC.

As you can see, it is very, very close to the CP 335gr. These 45-340D weigh 342gr cast of WW, unlubed. The seating depth is identical to the CP. Load data is in the Hodgdon book for the CP boolit, and you can probably use it if you work up and watch for pressure. I'd think if you're getting more than 1150fps in a 5.5" gun, you are probably pushing it.

Nice, I wonder what this boolit would do in my 7 1/2" Bisley Hunter?

SWAG=1200fps. Heavy boolits are pretty efficient in medium length barrels.

that is a very good looking bullet. My uneducated guess is it should fly better than the CP and should carry enough lube

Hodgdon shows the 335gr CP over 23.5gr of H110 with a WLP in Winchester brass going 1240fps at 28,000cup in a 7.5" gun. The thicker driving band on the front of this boolit, maybe not having a gas check and being about 10gr heavier, will likely drive up pressures slightly over the CP 335gr.

I hope so!

Preliminary testing was OK, but not great. The flyers out to the right are most likely me. I was not shooting my best when I first started today, and when I start to try to snatch the trigger from the bench, I pull shots out to the right.

I tried 21,22,23gr of H110 in Starline .45 Colt brass sparked with a Federal 150 (std) primer.

I shot these through my Accu-Sport Bisley 5.5" Ruger.

21gr = 1123,1158,1125,1153,1129,error fps
22gr = 1201,1205,1197,1198,1173, 1192 fps
23gr = 1230,1231,1247,1251,1251,1224 fps

Targets below shot from the bench @ 25yds over the chrono.
