Is there any problem using Lyman # 2 alloy for shooting 300 g FNGC boolits in my Winchester 1876 (new in 1880)? The bore is definitely pitted, but has strong rifling.
Thanks!

No, I wouldn't think so. It's as good as any to start with and has been around for quite some time.

You may be suprised how good some pitted barrels will shoot!

I'd give it a good cleaning first then....Go ahead and do it!

I used a JPW based lube in an old pitted bore, and it seemd to make a world of difference. Not sure if it was the lube or luck.
