Had 3 come to about 60 yds, but no closer. They gobbled to my calls but saw/heard something they didn't like.

At least you're getting them coming in still. And gobbling. I think here they're pretty much done breeding, except there was like late this morning, 3 out in a field, everybit of 4-500 yrds away strutting. I could see the white head of the dominant male with no binocs. Unfortunatley private property too.
Need a cool snap and rising barometer maybe to get them gobbling again.

I havent heard any gobbling since season opened. I found a hen on her nest before season. I had two working a corn field next to one of my hay fields, set up on them this afternoon, after sitting and sweating for two hours, came home.

Dad and I go ours in northern MO over a week ago. Lots of gobbling, good number of hens. Another good spring and mild winter and the flocks will be back where they were a few years ago before a really bad winter.
We are fortunate to have an excellent place to hunt.
