I just saw an 1894 marlin pre-safety. It has a broken loading gate. It just hanging loose in the slot. Any thoughts on how difficult it would be to fix?

Thanks

One itty bitty screw and one loading gate. About $10-$15 at Brownells IIRC. I have new replacement part spares of both sitting on my parts shelf, just in case.

The ones I have are for the 336/1895 frame and are part #'s

550-301-591 Loading Spring Screw
550-101-594 Loading Spring

Brownells has an exploded view library with order numbers available on line. Likely it's just a missing screw as they are tiny and only engage with a couple threads.

Thanks! I can get it for $325. Think I will snag it.

Buy it! That's one of the easiest things to fix on a Marlin.

When you get the replacement screw, just don't over tighten it......

Hope this helps.

A little blue loctite on that new screw will keep it from happening again. Come to think about it, a dab of loctite on all Marlin screws is a pretty good thing...they tend to loosen without it.

Well I picked it up. All pieces were there. Just had to tighten the screw. Had to pay tax. Just under 350 otd. It just came out for sale. Dickered him down to 325 plus from 430.
