View Full Version : I am buying an FIE Titan II (nickeled) in .32 ACP.

It is a single-stack, single action pistol. As near as I can figure, it is in 98% condition. The 3.75" barrel should provide an adequate platform for launching the 71-grain FMJ projectiles. The side of the slide is rollmarked "Made in Italy." It seems as if it is in excellent condition for a 24+ year-old pistol. From it's appearance, it hasn't be either abused, nor has it been extensively fired.

From my experience, the European ammunition seems to assist the French, Italian, German and Czechoslovakian pistols. This is due to the fact that they are loaded to higher pressures than American ammunition.

Here's hoping that it is as accurate as my other .32's.

Good luck.
I briefly owned a Titan .25 which I was given as partial payment for some yard work I did. Twasn't a bad gun, but I already had a Berretta model 21, so I sold it off for primer money.

I have two Titan .25 Auto pistols. One has a problem with the trigger not resetting when released, the other runs perfectly.

Thanks for sharing your story.

Gunfan--

No experience here with any FIE pistols, but I concur wholeheartedly with your observation that 32 ACP pistols benefit greatly from the use of Euro-intensity ammunition. American ammomakers need to fire their attorneys and hire more primer technicians. The net benefits from such moves would help us all.

I have good news from my 'smith. My pistol should be a good one, and replacement recoil springs are available from Numerich Gun Parts.

Pictures of the pistol tell me just how beautiful this "belt pistol" truly is! I can't wait to try loading it up with some of the Buffalo Bore "heavy .32 ACP" (+P) ammunition! (75 grains of hardcast, lead running at a true 1025 fps and 175 fpe from that 3.75" barrel) should make it a real "welterweight" contender when it comes to small game... and people! 8-)

I now have a nickle .25 that I bought for my Dad in 1977 or so. It has been flawless and only has around 7 or 8 boxes thru it. I even have the box. The thing is cast and I def won't put BB rounds in there

What kind of "nickel" .25 Auto is it? (BTW, Buffalo Bore does NOT make any +P loads for the .25 auto.)

If someone bought one of the "Vest Pocket" clones of the Browning being produced in .25 auto, it could handle such a load, I guarantee it! (PSP of Aspen Colorado produces them. They are nice, but EXPENSIVE!)

I own two of the blue-steel versions of these. The Titan e27B is quite well made for what it is. You would be surprised at how well these little handguns can shoot! They are NOT mad of cast metal, they just have a simple chrome plating. They are built better than you think! Some were good, and some "missed the mark." I have one that runs as if it were a sewing machine!

I like mine.

I was wrong on the gun being cast. I think I read some internet bashing, but mostly I recall the front of my slide being damaged and I assumed it was cast because of the fairly large amount of material, missing from around the recoil plug. I just looked, under magnification, and it has really been battered and on a big angle from side to side for some reason. :hijack:

Brassrat: People underestimate these little pistols. If you want a neat little handload, try a Remington 51 grain bullet, 1.6 grains Unique, MV 853 fps, ME 82 ft./lbs. from a 2.5" barrel.

Enjoy!

I like the little gun but dont shoot it much or reload for it. Not 1 jam in 35 years. I have a .380 Excam with similar design. The fixed barrels do shoot well. Good luck with the .32

I used to have a fie titan in .25 auto. Great little gun. I actually wish I still had it.

I just lubed up one of my little blued-steel black-gripped little wonders. I think that I'm going to take it out shooting soon. The loads aren't cheap, but perhaps I can find some Blazer aluminum cased loads that will be entertaining at a reasonable price.

You could go to Ranchdog and make your own "Buffalo Bore" rounds. Pic has 25 ACP on the left and 32 on the right. Cast from RD 6 cavity molds.

I like them! If only I could obtain a hardcast, flat nose 51-grain bullet in .251" i could put to great use!

Pssst! 2 grains of Unique behind such a boolit yields 933 fps and 99 fpe without any trouble! As long as they are fired in a nice solid Beretta 950BS or similar piece, they deliver one hell of a "nastygram"!

The Titan II has arrived! It looks good, and seems as if it is nearly new. It is obvious that it was fired very little by the previous owner. After the Feds quit playing "ring-around-the-rosie" (read: delayed). I'll take it home, clean and lube it. After that, we'll see how well it shoots.

I sold a blued one about a year ago after owning it for about 15 years. It gave me zero issues but I only shot about 200 rounds thru it. I only sold it to put the money towards another gun purchase.

Was it accurate? Did it function better with European ammunition? Did it shoot American ammunition well, or did it malfunction?

Mine is an Italian-made version. i am concerned about buing American ammuntion for it.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Perhaps I could get some 71-grain slugs to leave the barrel at about 1000 fps and yield 157.69 fp of energy (more or less).

That's a healthy SD load for the .32 ACP! :guntootsmiley:

Accuracy was decent but I had a Sterling .22 and a Raven .25 that I also shot so I was fairly practiced with the small pistols, especially the .22. I don't remember shooting any European ammo unless that is where the Magtechs came from.
I shot Winchester Super-X ammo thru it and don't remember any problems at all with it I also have a picture of it with aluminum case Blazer ammo in the mag so I must have shot that also, all round nose bullets.
I liked that Titan 25 but I like the Sterling 22 better and the Ravin was a total ***, waste of money.

I like the little Titan .25 as well. The pistol runs as if it were a watch! Not even a hiccup! This is a strange report on the Raven. In the 1984 Guns and Ammo spring periodical "Pocket Guns" Jan Libourel stated that these little pistols are reliable. While not particularly powerful the .25 ACP was, in his words, still "a good threat". I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad sample.

BTW, Magtechs are loaded right here in the good ol' USA.

I wasn't 100% positive on the Magtechs since they do have ties overseas.
BTW, today I found half a box of Remington 50 grainers in the cabinet so I must've shot that pistol more than I thought, lol.

I was WRONG! I looked on a box of Magtech .32 S&WL 98-grain RNL and they are manufactured overseas!

Mea culpa.

I'm off to see how well this pistol shoots. Self-loading pistols can be SO finicky when it comes to ammunition. (I bought some 60-grain Fiocchi JHP ammunition Two boxes at $26.99 a box hurts!)

I believe Magtechs are Brazilian made. The headstamp should be CBC if memory serves correctly.
