It has come to my attention that a lot of guys out there might be in dire need for a raised front sight in order to get their lead flinging old military rifles on paper.

I will do them if you provide the following:
Exact diameter of barrel at mounting point and the distance you rifle shoots high at a given distance + the exact lenght between front and rear sight.
That way i can calculate how high to make the new add-on front sight.

Example:
A rifle shoots 12" high at 50yds, sights are 26" apart.

50yds / 26" = konstant = 69.23
So 12" / 69.23 = 0.173" higher front sight to get spot on.

Good morning
Now that is an interesting front sight idea. Mike in Peru

Seems like a good contribution to the cast boolit fraternity.

I need a much shorter front sight for my cast loads ... my usual light load with 2400 powder needs an elevation setting of about 600 to 800 yards/meters on the typical military Mauser/Springfield. For the 03A3:

Very short front sight assembly for use with cast loads, and windage yoke assembly with a binding screw on the aperture for continuous elevation adjustment.

YMMV ....

As mentioned most "modern" milsurp rifles that need a shorter front sight to bring them to "zero" at 100 yards with the rear sight set on it's lowest range. The BP cartridge milsurps generally need a higher front sight.
