Not seeing much in the way for molds for the 32 Spl.
Any recommendations for a good boolit?

Weapon going to be used for casual paper punching etc.

I have and like the Ranch Dog mould mentioned above, always room for another tho. RCBS 170 gets lots of nods around here.

LEE's 175gr Gas-checked Round Nose that they make for 8mm Mausers. It comes out at .323 and it shoots just fine out of my Winchester 94 in 32 Win Spl at that sizing.

If you are just starting to tweak the 32 Win Spl, this mold will get you are start without dumping your wallet to RCBS.

This is going to be a new one for me and thats for sure.
Weapon is going to be a 1940's Winchester 94.
Not sure of the exact year as I have not gotten the weapon yet.

Does the RCBS 32-170 FN drop on the large side or pretty much to specs?

When I had a couple 32 Specials there were three molds I used .

Ranch Dog 323-170GC
RCBS 32-170GC
Lyman 321297

All three worked nicely in a Marlin 1893 , a Marlin 336SC , a Marlin 1936A and a Pre 64 Winchester 94 .

Enough said I see no reason for anything else beyond these three . Well thats if you can find a Lyman 321297 .

IF they're big enough to fit the bore...

Accurate molds 32-170A or 32-170B

I have an multi cut 4 cavity from Accurate. 2, 32-170a and 2, 32-150x.

I was just at his catalog and didn't see the 32-150. It was for a .32 pistol so at .323 it finished closer to 165 grains and it shoots good out of the 94. It's almost like a flat pointed spitzer. It would be great for 100 plus yard deer if cast soft enough to expand a little.

6 Pt. has a good point there. The 321297 is built for the 94 Win. I picked one up for my brother and it's the only mould he uses in his 94 - 32 Spcial. They are, however, a bit tough to find so I'd say go for the Ranch Dog. They are big enough to fit your bore well and the meplat is big. I shoot the Ranch Dog in a 30-30 and have decided that he makes a fantastic hunting boolit.

Before I sold off all my 32 Specials I had a pair of the Lyman 321297 . I first found a single cavity in like new shape on Ebay and then later I ran across a two cavity also on Ebay and purchased that one as well .

After getting the two cavity I had intentions of making the single cavity 321297 into a HP but never went thru with it .

The 32-170 RCBS is a winner for sure.

The 319297 is also a good .32 Special bullet and a HP in it works well./beagle

I cast up some 323-470's for my brother to use in his old Marlin. He said they shot better than the factory stuff, but I do not know what his load was, save that it came from a Speer Manual.

The 323470 also shot well in my Marlin 32 Spec. And if you have a large groove, it's the one to start with. Another real good bullet is the Lyman 319295, they cast about .322, depending on alloy (i have one) and weight 175 gr. They also have a large mepat and more bands than the 319297.

I use the RCBS 08-170FNGC and the Ranch Dog RD TLC 323-170RF. Both moulds cast @ 182grain lubed and checked. My four .32 Specials will not feed the Lyman 321297. Here's a target shot with my 1958 Marlin 336SC with Bhttp://i824.photobucket.com/albums/zz169/bobddville/Gun%20Collection%20Photos/IMAG0023.jpgallard rifling. 358 Win

Any one use the 32-165 winchester mould? I have one but havent used it yet.

I have a Lyman 321297 that does not shoot well because it has a very undersize nose. However all 321297 molds don't have that problem. A friend sent me some from his mold and their noses were large enough to ride the tops of the lands in a Ballard rifled Marlin 336. I mostly use an Old West 323-189-GC in my 32 Specials. Ken Chapman actually designed this bullet for the 32-40 but it also shoots well in my 32 Special. I have the Winchester 32-165 and use it for subsonic loads with light carges of fast burning powder.

Wondering if anyone has load data and alloy suggestions for this vintage winchester 32-165. I've got a nice example of this mold coming to me from an auction win. I'm guessing that in my granpappy's time or great granpappy's time this would have been a black powder load. In a 1960's win 94 32 spl I'm probably going to try starting with clip on ww with 10 percent lead free solder added lube sized to .323 over 28 or more grains of imr 4198 or spp210.

I use the Accurate 32-160g from a post war 94 '48 or '49 I believe.

Lyman 323470 is scary accurate in mine. I use 20:1 alloy. Getting ready to try it in the 32-40. Hope it's as good in that one.
