say you have a pure lead bullet and a good lube, you could push .44 240gr SWC to, lets say 800fps.
Now you add a GC to that same bullet, how much faster can you go?

Depending on the bullet design and assuming a revolver; 1050 - 1200 fps while maintaining some semblence of accuracy. You'd better have a good lube too, I use Javeliana for such with a 358156 in .38+P and medium level .357 magnum loads. I also push a 429244 cast of 40-1 at 1150 fps out of my 44 Magnum with very good success. There are some other variables so testing with your revovler, bullets and components is the only real way to know.

Let's say up to magnum velocity, about 1400 fps. That's where 44 Special leads. I have a 41 magnum doing in excess of 1315 fps from a chronograph. Fast enough for ya?

Good Luck,
Ron

Interesting. I've never even considered using pure lead because I still have WW's.

That's why I just gotta ask:

I've been shooting a .310 (.308 win rifle) "WW drop in water"-bullet without gas check 1500 FPS with good accuracy and zero leading.
Now I'm going to try it with gas check. Any ideas how much faster I should be able to push it?

and is the "water hardened" WW going to give something extra compared to pure lead?
