Well I bit the bullet and finally have a 10" Contender in 7 TCU coming. I've been planning on getting into pistol silhouette shooting to fill all my free time! HA!

Is there anyone on the board who has experience casting bullets for the 7-TCU? I'm thinking I would prefer a plain based mold, so as not to have to deal with gas checks. My mix would be either Linotype, WW, or range scrap. I'd probably experiment with all to find the right recipe.

TIA

I use a Lyman 285448. But at 125 Gr., it would be light for sillywet. it's a gas check too.

I have been using the lee 130 gr pp'ed to fire form brass. It is a gas check mould. Has shown a lot of promise out to 100, & cheap also, [smilie=w:.

Do a search for "7 m/m TCU", you'll find lots of ideas.

I wrap mine as cast, then size back to 0.285 with a lapped out lee sizer, no prolbems.

Stork, your post reminded me I needed to change my 10" 7mm TCU zero from its 168 gr RCBS deer load to its 137 gr Soup Can beer can load. The Soup Can is now ready for beer cans. They're ferocious around here!

One of the most popular is the RCBS 145. My understanding is there is a NOE Hunter like the RCBS some are having good luck with. Perhaps some of the more experienced silhouette casters will chime in. There is a guy that goes by ihmsakiwi that I believe posts on here. He has done some testing with good results with the NOE mold.

I have been using the 130 gr Lee in both my 7mm TCU carbine (18") and my pistol (10") for several years and both shoot very well with the carbine doing sub-MOA groups at 100 regularly. I recently bought the 140 gr 7mm Bator Lee mold with the flat point for hunting and it seems to shoot about as well but have not tried it in the pistol barrel. My accuracy load is 19 gr of 4198 for 1950 fps in the carbine and 1550 in the pistol

RCBS 145 Sil mould I had weghed 154 with GC. Very accurate in the 10" T/C. Used it for many years, wore out 2 barrels & bought a 3rd.

Back in my IHMSA days, I used the Saeco 070 nominal 145g boolit in the IHMSA Production Class in my TC chambered 7mm TCU. It is a gas checked design bore rider and I found that H-322 worked the best. Velocitiy was in the circa 1800 fps range, which, I found was necessary to knock down the rams with this weight boolit.

I use the RCBS 7mm-145 silhouette bullet. Load is about 17gr of SR4759. Light recoil and very accurate. With the rams not being set full foot, you don't have to use the "Gravel and Dynamite" loads.

NOE 7mm HUNTER Rules! at least in my 7-30 waters, can't say about the TCU.

IMO. :)

this is going to production soon and there will be some "extras''

I shot this at a silouhette range once and it handily knocked over the 200meter rams. This was out of my 7-30 waters TC.

Hey Blammer..... Youre not just a little bias, are you? I just recently traded for a 7-30 waters barrel and a 7 TCU barrel. Cant wait to get them and my new hunter mold.

And a 338-06 barrel,
And a 444 marlin barrel,
And a 308 barrel,
And a 358 Win barrel,
And a 22-250 barrel,
I think I MIGHT have a single shot addiction.

Hi Stork,

I used either the Lyman 145 gr or the RCBS 145 gr boolits in my T/C 10" & 14" 7TCU. Don't know I could tell the difference in accuracy as all my shooting was on IHMSA BB silhouettes. I cannot comment on the new NOE Hunter boolit in the T/C 7TCU as I no longer have either barrel. What I can say is the NOE Hunter is as good as the RCBS boolit that I had been using exclusively in my XP100 in 7BR. I miss my 14" 7TCU so am on the hunt again for a barrel. Peter

RCBS 145-SIL is my boolit of choice for the TCU in sillywett.
