Just wondering what mold you guys would recommend for a 25-20. I have a Remington model 25 and a savage 23B I will be shooting them out of! Thanks :)

The Lyman 257420 is probably the best all around .25-20 mould. Don'y know what the twist is on those but the 65/70 grainers work better than do the 85 grainers. Many twists in the .25-20 are too slow to stabilize the longer 85 grainers. At any rate, you won't go wrong with that one./beagle

+1 on what beagle just said. The 257420 is the best cast bullet out of my own M25B.

I really like my RCBS 25-85-CM in a Winchester Low Wall, cast of 1/20 with a case full of Trail Boss. This is a plain base bullet and really puts the Habeus Thumpus on squirrels.

i use a rapine mold, the 72gr flat nose plain base in my 25-20's.
i was worried about needing a gas check but so far so good at 259 straight from the mold waterdropped then tumble lubed with my version of recluse lube.
i just kept on adding aa-2230 to the case till i hit an accuracy node i could live with from both the carbine and rifle versions winchester made right after ww-1.

I have a Marlin 94 (late issue) in 25/20. It is the best cast bullet edible small game rifle I have ever used. I use the 257420 with gas check.

I have three loads for this strong action rifle. 4.0 grs of Unique takes care of my squirrel load.
A medium load is 11.0 grs of RL-7.
A heavy load is 14.5 grs of RL-7 (a compressed load) that gives just under 2200 fps (chronographed).

All three loads will stay in the 50 yard ten ring of the small bore target (10 shot groups). The "X" count is not high but they are completely reliable loads.

Besides the Lyman 257420, I found this boolit to shoot well in my 25-20...

Of course you'll not need the gas checked boolit at velocities of 1500 fps and slower.
