Stainless Steel Media Order

I placed a 7.5 lbs order for the stainless steel pins at pelletsllc, paid a nice amount for shipping and when I got it from the Post Office, the package was torn, steel pins was on the loose and I think I lost a couple of handfuls of pins.

The 5lbs bag were opened so it was a messed inside the box. I think they have a very shoddy way of packaging.

Time to contact them and request what is missing. I got mine from the people that sponsor the site and had no issues. Sorry to hear about your luck, and Id hope that they would make it good for you.

Yeah, paid 47.95 for the shipping, paid 45 dollars for the pins.
I am making my homemade, improvised case cleaner.

Man that is too bad.

I ship with those wimpy boxes at max weights (69-70 lbs) daily. You have to go ape on the tape. I mean you have to wrap all six sides vey securely, and the seams multiple times. Same goes for any boxes inside.
As a shipper, they Should know that.

My post office allows only one wrap of tape around flat rate boxes. They claim that is what the regulations say. So I tape the inside of the box.....and yes it is a pain. And I use glue. and their allowable one wrap of tape.

When I was receiving J bullets from Las Vegas those boxes came to me wrapped in much tape. My post office said we cannot help it if that post office does not follow the regulations, but we follow them here.

I told them their regulations and containers should allow for proper protection of allowable shipped weights, but of course that fell on deaf ears.....Mike

Here's what the USPS website has to say about taping;

Sealing

Tape your box shut and reinforce the seams with 2" wide tape. Use clear or brown packaging tape, reinforced packing tape, or paper tape. Do not use cord, string, or twine because it gets caught in mail processing equipment.

The only place you can't have tape is over any barcode on the label. My PO has no issues with the way I tape boxes I am shipping and I am using a lot of tape. Each Postmaster is pretty much a god in their little domain and some tend to get a bit Hitlerian with their authority.

Ask him (the person who says that) to show you that regulation. If he 'doesn't have time', ask for the Postmaster.

Is that even with clear tape ?

My boxes are covered 100% in clear tape, but neatly. I think that is the key. I believe that they appreciate it because the beefed up boxes are easier handle that way.


One member here on the site who ships me lead builds a nice wooden box inside the flat rate box. Now that is really doing right!
