BD nailed it.

The Merwin Hulberts are a mechanical wonder from the 1800's. The tolerances are so tight, when you turn the barrel back 90 degrees (from the pic) like it should, the cylinder will actually "suck" back to the blast shield. You can actually pull on the cylinder and feel the resistence of the suction.

Also, the barrels are so easily interchangeable. It takes less than 8-10 seconds. No tools!

Over the past few years a company has tried to revive and bring back to life the Merwin and Hulberts only to fail as did those that tried to bring back the Auto Mag and the Bren Ten.

Now another company is going to try again with he M&H.
