Well this is the 1st gun on my list mainly because it's cheap and I'm broke. There's a really bad selection of guns at the retail stores and the gunshows down here. My sister lives in new Braunfels and I visit semi-frequently I was wondering if anybody knows where they sell em up there.

Have you considered an online surplus dealer.

Well I can't inspect it and I know I'm gonna get ripped on FFL fees most likely 50% of what the gun costs.

Just a 91/30 in good working condition with a bayonet that fits. I'm not sure I'd know all the stuff to look for on it.

James, I have a spare 91/30 that would only cost you a transfer fee. If you have a FFL that can recieve it, I will send it to you... no bayonet through! I think I can send an oil bottle, firing pin tool and a couple of ammo pouches though. I have a C&R FFL, you might mention that to your recieving FFL. They often don't like to recieve guns from individuals.

I picked mine up at Big 5

I would assume they have stores in San Antonio as well.

Some of the folks that work there will open the boxes and let you pick the one you want and then some of them take the "what's wrong with the one on the rack?" approach. Luck of the draw on that one.

The one that I got was a 91/30 with all the goodies and all of the serial #s matched for $99.

James, have you already cleared the border? I'd gladly swap it for a couple of bottles of vanilla, if you are still able to make that run. If not, just consider it a pay it forward.

Dan

Not really supposed to make a run to Mexico, but I'll make exception for you.

How many bottles do you want clear and how many regular brown?

Or what's the best cleaning kit that has this that cleans without damaging the gun in the slightest.

That is a very special thing TD has done. My uncle gave me my first actual rifle other than a 22 in 75, it was nothing special but has actually been my go to rifle ever since, when I die, it will be the one I still own, then my son can have it. What he has done is something to be remembered for a lifetime, and memories don't get much better.

Starmac, I have a bunch of MN's and the wife is after me to get rid of some anyway. heck, this is better than trying to sell them and might make a new shooter happy to boot!

There's a hardware store on Nacogdoches if I remember correctly. Either that or it could be on perin beitel or even nac-perin, but the guy there does ffl transfers for $30 ($20 for locals or military)

Let me look up his info and ill post it. Good guy, family owned business too.

Found it quick.

www.johnsgunshardware.com

They're at 14080 Nacogdoches rd in san Antonio.

They're really friendly people and they'll bend over backwards to help you out.

I once needed a coaxial cable, went in there and asked if they had any. Well they didn't, but John pulled the one off his tv he wasn't using and sold it to me for 50 cents.

I ordered my Marlin 1895 off buds gun shop and had John accept the transfer.

I think he was as excited as I was when the gun came in.

I really cannot recommend them enough. Great people to deal with.

I would say that would definitely make a young shooter very happy, or I would sure hope so. lol

It is a fine thing to do, hope some carma comes your way.
