View Full Version : Winchester 100 308 and cast Boolits

Ok so my mom gave my a Winchester 100 in 308 I want to use with cast 311291 the promble is it won't chamber Thecast but will chamber the j Boolits I use the same 311291 in my 788 and works fine any thoughts .seated them deeper didn't do any thing and the recall has been fixed by winchester

The throat/bore is probably too small for your 311291. That is a common problem with that bullet in the .308W. You could have the rifle throated but frankly the 311291 is not a good choice for the .308W as the bearing surface of the driving bands is to long for the short neck. The 311291 was designed with the longer necked 30-30, 30-40 and 30-03 in mind way before the .308W was dreamed up. I suggest the RCBE 30-168-SIL, a cast bullet designed for the .308W and one which should work very well in your M100.

I couldn't chamber the 311291 in my Savage rifle either. I have had good luck with the Lee C312-155-2R though...Ray
