Good morning
Somewhat before the desired take off time, the 16 B-25's lead by Lt. Col. James Doolittle took off from the deck of the USS Hornet. And to think a submarine jockey came up with the marvelous idea.

That was an amazing feat. I'm thankful for all the service men and women that stood up at that critical time in our history. Incredible times for sure.

Don't forget those that were captured, tortured and murdered.

The Doolittle raid always amazes me. Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo is one of my favorites to this day. What guts those guys had! I have to really wonder if any Americans today could be counted on to do it.

While Americans have changed for the worst, American military men and women have not. I give you Desert Claw in 1980 and Somalia/Mogadishu in 1993, missions in Bosnia, and ANY given day over in Sandland as proof of that.

Speaking of B-25 bombers. . . . here is the Pacific Prowler at a Warbirds show at Fort Worth Meacham Airport last July 4th.

Twelve or so B-25's landed at Wright-Patterson airbase in Dayton, Ohio yesterday for the big anniversary event. My BIL and nephew were there to watch. They're planning to spend all day there today too. I hope they took plenty of photos.

Here is a good spread of pics showing them landing.http://photos.denverpost.com/mediacenter/2012/04/photos-70th-anniversary-reunion-of-the-doolittle-raid-on-tokyo/33634/

and the quarter million or so Chinese civilians that were tortured and/or killed as a direct result of helping the American bomber crews.
