Hey fellows, measured the bore on my Rossi 45 Colt 92 - seems to be .454/.455". $51/452 bullets are very inaccurate. .453"/.454" do much better - looking to order some .455" from Montana Bullet Works. Any experience with the issue. I was looking to order the Lee 452-300-RF. Thanks.

I quit loading for mine until I could get a bigger expander die and take the carbide ring out of my Lee crimp die.
That was a job,,, I had it out before I realized I should have machined off the ring they locked it into the die with.
I've never noticed mine being in accurate but then I rarely shoot over 50 yards in cowboy action shooting with it. Mine is also in 45 Colt but I've read that they can be 454 before though I shoot the 452 myself.

great,
first thier 44's go to 43 caliber.
now thier 45's are 46's.
i knew when taurus took them over stuff like this would pop up eventually.

My Rossi must be a "Rossi" not a "Taurus" (I don't own Fords[smilie=s:) and it's .451 barrel (24") shoots .451 - .454 sized cast just fine. Didn't know Taurus took them over..........probably as bad as S&W having taken over Thompson Center........

they did a little while back.
my two rifles and carbine shoot 452 no problems
my 44 does just fine with 430
my 44-40 has a little tighter chamber so i use 428's in that but the bbl is 429 so a stiff load makes them work without any leading.
and my 357 actually has a 358 boolit affair going on, and will shoot 125 through 180 gr boolits.
it's a good thing we don't hold out for quality in this country any more, we would drive the gun industry into the dirt.

I thought it was a sort of "standard" for a long time that rifles in .44 actually where .430-431 whereas pistols where .429"?

Good morning
Was just reading the fine print in a old reloading manual put out by Lyman about a different caliber. " Individual tolerances vary greatly in rifles chambered for this cartrige." Nothing new under the sun today. Every time I handle a new to me firearm my brain asks the most important question..I wonder how fat this throat is ?
