I did a search and couldn't find anything.
I just got bullets and lapping compound from Beartooth.
I have some 231 at home. Will this powder work?
Where should I start for a load?
Thanks guys!

I've heard just enough powder to get the bullet out of the barrel, extremely low velocity. Do you have a "hotter" faster burning powder other than 231?

Go to www.beartoothbullets.com, from the menu on the left choose tech notes, after the article there are other listed articles, several on fire lapping.
Hope it helps,

Bout 4 to 4.5 grains of 231 will do it. Be SURE you shoot a target so you can see your bullets strikes.
I believe I've used 2.5 gr Bullseye or Red Dot in a .44 and 2.0 gr in a .38. Either powder will work. Check the barrel after every round or at least count your holes in your target!

do you clean the barrel after each shot?? GD

Don't clean the barrel, shoot and look at the wear/ polishing. If you can't find a charge or are unsure call Beartooth. They were helpful when I called. I spoke to the owner Marshall I think was his name, real nice guy. Don't over do it with the lapping either, to much of a good thing ya know. John

I used 231 in my 41mag. It worked great. I used a crushed 22lr case to dispense it. I crimped it on one side until I got it right.
