My new 4 cavity 45-230M brass mold arrived from Tom at Accurate Molds today, just six calendar days after I placed the order:

It's almost too beautiful to use.

Happy Casting!

Hope you have a 20lb pot to keep up with it!

I have two 10lb pots. I'll get by with them for the next month or two (until it's too hot here in Phoenix to cast). I plan to have an RCBS Pro-Melt by the time I start casting again in the fall.

I think my next accurate mold is going to be a brass one. I'm wanting one for my 300 blk build I just finished and I think a 4 cavity brass mold will be perfect.

Wish payday would hurry up and get here.

That is one beautiful mould.
Can someone tell me what the advantage is, if any, of the mould being machined from brass?
The obvious being, not having to worry about rust. Is there anything else that brass has
going for it?

Littlejack if you go to Accurate's web site, go to the FAQ's. You can get the info on the mold materials. I have a brass one for my 45 70 it's great. John

They are fast. Brass transfers heat out of the lead faster and it machines well too.

I thought Accurate was limited to 3 cavity in Brass. This is distressing as now I have to put one on the list.

I wish I could have gotten a six cavity mold from Tom in brass. I know it would be heavy but I can deal with that.

A six cavity brass mould from Tom, having a sprue plate that has a cam lever on it made by Red River Rick (his cam levers are much nicer than Lee's, design-wise as well as material-wise) would be a wonderful thing! It wouldn't be cheap, but it would be worth every penny of it's cost!!

What OAL are you using? Also if you don't mind sharing, what load are you using

Long brass moulds tend to warp. If I remember right, Tom at Accurate redesigned the 4-cavity due to warpage issues and briefly quit offering it as an option, but now he's making them again.

A six-cavity brass mould would be next to impossible to manage.

A 6 cav brass mould would be so dang heavy I wouldn't want it. I don't have the strength to wrestle something like that.
I will stick with Lee for my 6 cav moulds for now. They suit me just fine.
