Today I got out for a ground squirrel hunt. I shot several with my Kimber TLE/RL. I was using a Lee TL452-230-2R with 5.2 gr of WW231. The shots were from 15 to 30 yards. It was a bunch of fun. Ron

I like the tactical rail on your gun, my smith has it also and even though I'm not using it, it's there when I do. Nice shooting also.

was out in Whyoming shoot praire dogs with my brother in law one day and we were shooting them like crazy. Had one pop up at about a 125 yards and whipped out my colt and actually hit it. He was impressed and i just holstered and didnt try another because i knew how luck of a shot it was!

When you get where you can even make those shots weak handed, you will be the Obiwan of the pistol world. I have been trying to shoot more with my weak hand (left) and I am getting better, but not there yet. That shure is a purdy weapon. I only have the Team Match II but am looking to get another kimber soon. Great shooting!!

A 45 ACP is good to have along when the GS hordes try a massed attack. They are highly motivated when in herd formation. Don't forget to save the last bullet for yourself.

"Back in the day", I killed all sorts of game and varmints with a 45 Auto. It was a stock Remington-Rand 1911A1. It was the only centerfire handgun I owned, so that made the choice of which handgun to use easy.

In the Red Desert area of WY we used to plink picket pins with .45 autos. Those very quick little animals are hard to hit

Now if you want that Kimber to reach out there a-ways, you need to upgrade your sights a little.

What sight is that? Attached to frame or slide? Do you like it?

I used a Colt 1911 (not an A1) to earn my user name. Very fun hunting.

It's the Leupold DeltaPoint - I had the slide milled, so it sets down in the slide a little. You can get the bomar base for it with the mount package but it will set up higher on the slide but works almost as well. Milling puts the red dot or delta right where the rear sight use to be, so it points naturally and comes on target just a little faster than a higher mount. I also had a fixed sight installed (BUS or back up sight) just in front of the heads up display and it's regulated for 50 yards.

I like the set-up (I have the 7.5moa delta) and I really like the idea of not having to align my sights perfectly at long range - just wiggle the dot/delta around your bullseye or kill zone and somehow the bullet just goes there - I have a lot less fliers at 50 and 100 yards than I did with irons. I use the very top of the delta as my aiming point and that is probably comparable to a 1/4 minute dot and the large triangle/delta comes into view very quick. I prefer it over a 4 minute dot. Sorry for the hijack.

One thing I can guarantee - you won't have to shoot a ground squirrel twice if you use a .45 ACP:veryconfu.

I have found that the .45 ACP in either a pistol or revolver to be a good field pistol when properly loaded.

My preference is either a Mihec H&G #68 or a Mihec 200 gr hollow point bullet at about 900-1000 fps.

Nice looking Kimber, indeed!

I've used my H&K P7 for squirrel hunting. Very good practice with trigger control and accuracy.

Just need to get a .45 again.

All in good fun, and a playful jab at the Kimber devotees:
