I have a CZ model 453 (heavy barrel, set trigger) in 17 HMR. I am wanting to change it to a .22 Magnum. I have found a model 452 heavy barrel (no set trigger) in .22 Mag. It has plain timber, My 17 has beautiful fiddleback from end to end. It's simply the best stock I've seen on a sub $1000 dollar rifle in years.

I plan to switch the .22 Mag barrel and action into my stock and sell off the 17 with a less pretty stock.

Will it fit?

Does any body have experience with a CZ 252 in 22 Mag? I'm curious about what size groups these rifles are capable of.

Not sure if the 452 and 453 stocks are compatible, but I've had a 452 Lux (long, skinny, non-free floated barrel) in .22 WMR for about a decade now and it's my favorite long gun (along with my 452 Scout). It will shoot to 1" at 100 yards (benched, scoped) with quality 40 grain fodder. Of course I rarely scope it because it has such wonderful sights. With open sights from a rest I've had <2" groups at 100 yards with Federal 50 grain JHP's.

Not compatible. :-(

Now I've got to weigh up whether a re barrel is worth it or not. No doubt sell and replace would be the cheaper way to go.

I thought the only difference between the 452 and the 453 was the trigger. If they are both heavy barrels it should work. If you decide to sell let me know. I may be interested. The only 22 Mags I have are Sako Quads. I have a couple of 452’s in 17 HMR and a 453 in 17 Mach II. They all shoot great. I don’t see why the 22 Mag would be any different.

I have a brand new 22 Mag. 452 LUX takeoff barrel, complete with sights, I pulled a few years ago to make a 17HMR before CZ offered that caliber. If you are interested PM me.
