We finally loaded up some RCBS 200-FN's for the boy's 35. He wanted to see what it would do to a steel plowshare he dug out of my iron pile. It's just shy of 1/4" thick.

The penetrating rounds are AC WW, 2% tin 200 gr FN's over 37gr varget at 40 yds.
The one that just dented it is a AC WW, 2% tin lyman 358156 over 10 gr unique.
I knew what factory j-bullets would do to steel plates, but I admit I was surprised at this from a cast boolet.

Cast Lead boolets penetrate wayyyy deeper than most people think.

I have seen 311299's shot at 1850fps, penetrate through 4" of hard wood at 500 yards!
Two of 4 boolets at this range penetrated the wood.

My plate still recieves some surface damage at 300.

A 190-grain, .30 caliber paper-patched boolit of ACWW+1% tin at 2480 fps punches neat holes in 3/8 boiler plate at a 45-degree angle, ruined one of my boolit traps with that one.

What were you shooting that.30 cal out of? What accuracy? I've been thinking about trying cast in smaller calibers, but didn't think I could get the velocities I wanted.
