I bought a split shot sinker mold from the bay and it doesnt look quite complete. When its closed i can see strait through it. It looks like a metal plate fit in the middle of the mold. Anyone have any experience with these?

The metal part is what makes the split in the split shot.
I think in made one from an old hacksaw blade.
I ground the teeth off it and it worked fine....dale

Do-it non removable split shot moulds have a central plate that, like Dale says, make the split. http://do-itmolds.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=1_10_80 I have the removable split shot mould - no plate. PM me if it is a do-it. I have a couple of them and have picked up a couple of tricks casting them.

You can order a plate or if you have some scrap that is right size use that.
