I have a good problem, but as my friend points out, "it is still a problem".

B-Day still a ways off, but coming up quick. Wife is hard to shop for and so am I so we decided instead of buying each others gift, we would use the money we would normally spend and allow the person to buy something of "value". I can buy a new gun, but I can't buy powders or primers (can't be 'consumable').

Own a 1911 and Ruger SR9c (my two primary carry guns)
44mag SBH

Rifles I am good on.

Reloading presses good, and casting equipment, doing good on it two (ok I could always use more lead and molds, but that is small stuff, bought here and there).

$500-$1000 (could possibly go over, not tied to the upper limit)

Thinking a compact 1911, can't see the need to get a Ruger 9LCP, not much difference in size. But a smaller lighter 45 does appeal.

Or spend the money on a hog hunting trip (Been a long time since I went hunting, the will is there, but works seems to get in the way, busy time Sept-Nov).

Any other suggestions?

Get the compact 1911 and then go hog hunting with it anyway. Have a happy B-Day

I didn't think you could call yourself a Texan without a revolver?

A S&W 625 would fit the bill.

Get a Thompson Center Contender and a couple of barrels. The funest gun I own. If you get tired of what you are shooting just change barrels. You can try a new caliber for just the cost of a barrel you can get through the mail no FFL required.

For a bit extra, you could get a Khar/Thompson semi-auto Tommygun.

Can you use a good chronograph? How about a gun safe?

Good morning
I would get a good used caliber 60-62 smoothbore flintlock. start hunting with roundball and shot. One gun to take on all the critters in your AO.

How do you stand on a good set of calipers or micrometer, maybe a handgun safe, gun case/range bag. Man I could go on and on. These are some of the things I need!

PSA has an AR kit (everything but the receiver) in the new 300BLK for around $650.00.

Ya know what? What any of us wants could only be a reminder of things out there that you hadn't thought of.

Get what YOU want and then tell us "I did it MY way"

Good luck and happy birthday when it gets here!

Well things happened so this took longer than I expected, but . . . Kimber Ultra Carry II with Crimson sights. :)

I have only put a 100rds of Factory through it so far, but once I get close to 500 through it then I will make it my primary carry gun.

I second the motion for the Smith & Wesson 625. Everybody seems to love those. OK, and I do love my Smith & Wessons - the older ones. enjoy Mike

Well Christmas is coming so for that I will suggest a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) M1 Garand from $525 and up best battle implement ever made according to Gen. Patton.
http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/m1garand.htm

Too heavy to carry but a chance to own a piece of history. The CMP Specials are like a brand new 70 year old rifle not "gun" but they are fun anyway.
