The pin serves as a roller bearing.

The design cannot be patented as the Finns were doing something very similar back in '39.

What do you think? I have one set up on my personal Mosin and it feels like the second stage of a two-stage K98's pull, but smoother.

The American Rifleman had an article on the matchgrade trigger modifications that the Soviets used on target rifles built on the Mosin Nagant action.
I don't remember any details but the alterations seemed more extensive, and were considered quite effective.
That article did have drawings of the mechanism.
The article may be available as a reprint. I don't know if I still have that issue. I have most of those old magazines but the cat had kittens in one box of old AR journals so those had to go to the trashcan.

You need to add one more. One is for the first stage, The second is for the second stage. You will also have to adjust the sear length on the rear cocking piece. You might have to thin the spring. If you can find them, there are a couple of differant styles they used.

Make sure you peen over the edges so they will not fall out. I pressed mine in so no need to peen the sides.

If I find time later I might fire up an old computer that has hundreds of pics for Finn rifle mods that were done.

Cut the pin short and peen the edge of the hole to prevent loss. This would allow the pin to still rotate within the hole.

A hole drilled and tapped down vertically through the bolt retainer lug. And a grub screw that acted upon the pin which was in an oval slot would allow for take up.

How do we modify the sear to have a pivot point instead of a flexing point?

The Finns did that back in 1927!

I do not have the tools to do this.

A lot of my concern about the triggers is liability. Yes, I'm an LLC. Yes, I have disclaimers all over. Heck, look at the page: http://www.smith-sights.com/finn-pinned-roller-triggers.php

Yes, I can make a two-stage trigger very easily. There's a lot I can do, in fact, that I haven't – simply because I'm afraid of a lawsuit.

Not sure what to do about that one.

Josh

Yeah, but, so far, the ones I've seen advertised cost about the same as what I paid for both my M-Ns...combined!!
