Wow a 1,000 gr boolit! That just is not my idea of fun...

The 505 Gibbs or 500 Jeffery would both be fine choices. The largest cartridge I currently shoot is the 458 Lott, but one day I hope to have a nice 500 Nitro Extress of a 505 Gibbs or Jeffery.

What about P14 actions? Trajectory would be a "down side" to that cartridge at those speeds.

I can tell you if I were to do a big bore hunting rifle it would be a 50RazorBack like JTknives. After seeing two antelope being SLAMMED down to the ground with a 500gr boolit this passed hunting season I can honestly say I have never seen anything, besides a semi truck, take the fight out of an animal as quick as those two boolits.

A full lenght RUM case would get more case capacity and I think it would still work in a magnum lenght action.

If I were after a small bore "big bore" I would go 458 win mag.

If you havent seen it do a quick search of the "700 ***" another one of JT's rifles that has gone viral. The light loads push a 1132gr cast bullet at 1200fps....the hot loads will push a 1132gr close to 2200fps

Remington, Federal, Nosler, and Quality all make RUM brass. 338 RUM is slighty short than the others so unless you blow it out and cut it off its going to be to short.

The 50RB brass seems to be holding up well.

Aaron with Delta Company did the chamber on JT's rifle. But I havent been able to get ahold of Aaron or Dave in well over a month now.....emails, calls, texts, cant get either one.

Duke,

I would beg to disagree, Wayne Jacobson at AHR has built several 600 OK's on CZ actions with no issues.

Those Montana actions are real good. I don't know if they ever got into full production with the Magnums, or not. When I worked for the company, they only had a few actual finished examples. Be aware, if you get one of the 1999 or magnum actions, they are a gunsmith action, and need some work to bring them up to their full potential, through appropriate polishing, and blueprinting. I would usually end up with 8-10 hours on blueprinting one of the 1999's
Glen Harrison also makes a magnum action. He's the guy who designed the Nesika Bay actions. Roger Batt is another large action builder.
