Parts were Power Custom free spin pawl for the cylinder, and a Wolff spring kit comprising of a 19# mainspring, 40 oz. hammer spring, and extra power base pin spring. I'll be bead blasting the firearm tomorrow at work. I polished the hammer, trigger, ejector rod, and cylinder base pin tonight for a contrasting look. Should turn out nice. I'll post before and after pics when I get it all completed. That free spin pawl is COOL! I'm also going to install a Belt Mountain Keith base pin for a tighter lockup of the cylinder as soon as Midway gets them back in stock. I got 500Starline nickel cases the other day from Midway as well; they are some great looking cases!

Hey RVpilot76,

Sounds like you did some nice upgrades to your Bisley. I would like to install the Power free spin pawl in my Bisley, and I would like to know if you had to tweak it a bit to get it to fit.

It all but dropped in. The first pawl up from the pivot point had to be shortened, as it would not allow the sear to engage on the trigger. Just go slow and only take about .005" off per cut. This was the only timing issue I had with the whole installation. Well worth the money in my opinion. Still waiting for the Belt Mountain base pin to get back in stock at Midway. I'll post pics of the Bisley tonight.

OK. Here's the aforementioned photos I promised. I really like the matte finished look of the stainless steel. I'm going to attempt to build some custom carbon fiber grips for it.

This is before finishing.

And after refinishing.

Nice gun. If you have access to a free bead blaster something else to consider is filing off that warning on the barrel and reblasting it. I did it to my super and it turned out real well.

The Belt Mountain base pins seem to be scarce. I've tried for them on the last two Brownell's orders--out of stock there, too.

I hadn't even thought about that. Good idea!

I'm thinking this could be something that I might be able to machine myself. I'll have to look into this with our machinist at work.

I really like the Bead Blasted look of your gun. Did you do it yourself?

I was busy with school when they did the run of stainless bisleys with the 5.5" barrel, so I missed out on the 45. I still keep looking for one. I did get one of the new 357s though. I've been thinking about maybe getting one of the stainless 44 bisley hunters and rechamber to tight 45 Colt chambers.
Does anyone know of a place that will bore and rerifle a stock pistol barrel?
I've bought new barrel blanks from Bauska. Maybe I should call and ask if they can do a rebore job. The new blanks are only $100 plus $10 shipping, so maybe a rebore wouldn't be that bad?

Very nice job on the gun. I've about got my CNC lathe back up and running. The PC died, but when I get it fixed I was thinking of doing some base pins. I think I'll try some 4140 and 17-4 round bar. If I can get it pre heat treated, then I won't have to worry about warping it and can just go slow with a carbide lathe bit.
Too many projects, but this one shouldn't take up much time.

Looks great. I would add another touch, mill the top strap flat and add a Micro sight. Adds to the cost though since it would need welding and radius-ing.

Delta Gun Shop rebores revolver barrels for about $125.

I really like the Bead Blasted look of your gun. Did you do it yourself? Yep, one of the perks at work, along with a number of CNC mills and lathes.
I think I'll try some 4140 and 17-4 round bar. If I can get it pre heat treated, then I won't have to worry about warping it and can just go slow with a carbide lathe bit. I have 17-4 at work, but to get it heat treated I'm looking at $100 for the firing up of the autoclave. This is something I would normally get for free, but all of our heat treated material is 2024-T0 aluminum. I will have to look into a source for pre-heat treated bar stock. Good idea, LAR!
Too many projects, but this one shouldn't take up much time. The only thing that I'm wondering about, is what the spring and detent looks like on the inside of the base pin. Mine is peened on the ends to keep it all together, and I really don't want to destroy my factory base pin. I'd like to keep it for a spare, just in case.
