Can someone recommend a 30 caliber plain base bullet that's a little on the heavier side? Say 180 grains + or so? My 1/8 twist barrel doesn't seem to like the lightweight stuff and if I'm going to be shooting subsonic I don't know that I need a gas check on the big, slow boolet.
Anything on the market or do I need to either go custom or start mangling Lee molds?

If you don't mind waiting there is a group buy going for the 247gr whisper boolit. If you want something sooner Accurate Molds has a 245gr in the catalog. I'll be picking up an accurate mold as soon as funds allow.
I'll be trying my 311299 gas checked here in the next couple days but I don't plan on running them subsonic. I'll wait for the 245 from Accurate for that.

See if NOE has any 311299 plain base moulds, or possibly a 311284 plain base.

I have the GC version of the Accurate mold, love it, my 300 BK shoots it very well, I do not use GC's on it in the 300 but I do in 30-06 as I push them faster. The PB version should work very well if you do not plan to push them faster.
This one is a little pricey, but mine isn't for sale, that is just how accurate it is for me :
