I run 36 to 39 grains of IMR 4895 in my garand with a 180 Lee flat nose gas checked boolit.

Unique is fun for light loads, I have been up to 15.0grs with a 192gr gaschecked bullet.

IMR 4350 out of my 1903 I use a light 36.5gr with the same 192gr bullet, roughly 1800fps.

I never thought about 4350 as a cast bullet powder. Hows your accuracy??
Are there unburnt powder kernels in the bore? Does it burn completely??
Let me know.:)

opcon4,

I have shot a fair amount of rounds with 13 gr Red Dot or 16-21 gr 2400 in the 30-06, mostly in an 03-A3. The accuracy is very good.

36.5gr of IMR 4350, 40 yards bench, open sights of course. No unburned powder, I use a small tuff of pillow stuffing over the powder as filler, only about 1/2" square.

Of course it opens up at the 100 yard line, but still pretty accurate. I am going to switch powders, there is a noticable difference in recoil in IMR 4350 vx Unique velocity is about the same as well. Im not trying to push them at top speed, just accurate shooting for 100 yards.
