Tradex ( a canadian supplier) has Woodliegh .333 diameter 250 gr j-words for sale, has anyone tried these in an 8x56r , diameter would be right on for some of the bigger groove diameter barrels out there , both price and recoil are going to hurt though

$2 for a bair or a moose or similar sounds ok though!

...............I dunno. The bore usually runs about .314" and the grooves running somewhere between .330" and .335". A .333" OD jacketed slug in a .331/.332" groove might present problems (pressure?) with a normal jacketed type load. In any even, use extra care in working up a load!

Run them thru a 329 push sizer and they are the same as the milspec ammo.
I do similar with 338 Speer Hot Cor in mine, and it works a treat. Just a bit of fiddling to find a good powder and load.
