Saw some of these on sale for 2.52per 100 and thought I would give em a try . They are going to be loaded in 38spl,40s&w and 9mm. My normal is cci 500's and wsp but for the price it was worth a try. Does anyone have any feedback on these. The store had like 2-3k left and would get em before they sell out if it's worth it.

Thanks

In 38 Spl, 40 S&W and 9 mm Magtech primers are more than OK. If the price is right for you, buy them all.

They work great. I wish they were around here more.

i have never had an issue with them in handguns and only one issue with them in a rifle.
and that turned out to be not the primers fault.
they seemed to be close to rem's in the rifle and similar to cci's in pistol cartridges.

Graf's HAD them on sale last month fer 99.99 per 5k - I have never used them so, I got 5k of the Winchesters they had for 120. Wish I had of known...............
I've never talked to anyone that has used the Magtec primers.
Guess I'll know to try them now! Around our area, primers are $35 - $38 a K at the stores - whatever brand. So, buying them off the web in bulk saves money - get 2-3 people and share the HazMat fee. G&S rocks!
Best of luck, latesvak!

I had some issues with the Large Pistol Primers a couple years ago. I would try them first.

I've used 1000's of them when they were cheap. I still have 5 or 10 thousand left. They are not as soft as Federal small pistol and changed back to a full power Wolff spring in my S&W so they would always go bang.

I have run a little over a thousand thru the 44 Mag, 30,357 Herrett, 30-30 and 7mm Mag cast boolit loads.

Seem to work fine.

Normally run with WLP, but they got too pricey during the last foray into shortages.

I've loaded thousands of 'em in .223, .45 and .357 without a hiccup. Good primers when you can find 'em.

This is unusual from my point of view. You Americans have all the goods, but in primers we seem to have better selection and availability. Just little while ago someone was asking here the same question about Sellier & Bellot primers. Both S&B and Magtech are everyday primer brands here. As are the CCI, Federal, Winchester, Fiocchi..

Lately the only brand that has had some issues has been Murom. For plinking loads it is just fine, but there has been some reliability problems during the winter time. I would have thought that a RUSSIAN primer is reliable in cold but obviously it is not.

Well, we do have larger availability of different brands (I believe this is due to a great export from Germany) but in turn we pay two to three times more. In stores the Fed 100 primers are up to $68.3 per 1000 in Sweden, if we can even get them at all.

You are probably right.

Also, here the American brands are big but here S&B and Magtech are HUGE. The volume of their ammunition sold here is on a different level. Maybe that's why we also have their primers..

In Finland pretty much all primer brands cost the the same: 35-40 euros ($47-53) /1000 pcs. No matter what (SP, LP, SR, LR).

At the Powder Valley site, Federal primers are $26-$30US/1,000 depending on exactly what you get. Of course we have to pay a hazardous material shipping fee but with my last local group buy that worked out to be about $2US per person. And for my order of 10k each of SP and LP the added cost per 1,000 was insignificant. I can live with that.

Yeah, I know the price is much better over there.

Today I managed to find very cheap primers: $40 / 1000. :-D Bought enough for the next 6 months (we have this stupid "2000 pcs /household" limit, otherwise I would have taken them all.)

...we have this stupid "2000 pcs /household" limit,...

Is that a storage/possession limit or a per purchase limit? I'm just curious. When it comes to restrictions by other locales I have very little knowledge.

It is a storage limit. One can have max 2000 primers in the house / apartment. Naturally because of the rule most of the gun stores will only sell max 2000 primers / purchase.

But quite often the handloaders break the storage rule. They buy 2000, come back little later and buy other 2000, come back little later and buy 2000.. Probably not a big surprise?

The weirdest thing is, that if one has excessive amount of primers he can make them "legal" just by loading cartridges. One can have 20 000 pcs of ammunition in the house / apartment..

Sweden has the same rules, based on the EU directives. There is a ongoing process with increasing restrictions every year. Give us ten years or so and all civilian weapons will be banned.

Funny thing is most of our dealers sell packs of 5000 primers each. Guess they don't really feel it is justified for a reloader to buy less. I myself shoot about 500 shots a week during season and anyone can figure out that with no local stores you gotta stock up some.

Here in the US, local ordnances usually reflect the NFPA recommendations on the Uniform fire Code, which limits you to 8,000 primers stored in a residence or attached out building. Exceeding this number can cause grief if you have a fire, the Insurance company can be sticky. I store some in my house, some in a "detached" shed, and some in my Daughters Garage to keep everything within bounds. I usually have between 15 and 20,000 total.

Funny, I just brought this up to my insurance guy, a Farmers agent, and he said as long as I am not running a business, he doesn't care how many I have. I just put in an order with a buddy for 50K worth.

I don't want to get stuck with panic buying on the rise because of the nucklehead in office.

I love hearing about the european restrictions. It makes Commiefornia sound free!!! :veryconfu:bigsmyl2:

Same thing on this side of the pond, however. Incrementalism. How I detest that word.

It's how they get what very few freedoms we still have.

I've used several thousand, I wish I could find more. Magtech primers were the only ones available during the last primer shortage. I got 3000 from a local supplier and wish I had gotten the rest of his supply. No complaints with the brand.
